Default What are the degrees for Fajr and Isha in the Shafi'i school?
I think it is 18.5 for fajr and 12 for isha, but not too sure. Does anybody know?

What are the other 3 schools opinion on the times of these 2 salats?

brother.

For the Hanafi Madhhab:
Fajr: 18 degrees.
'Isha': two opinions: 18 (stronger) or 15.

There is no hanafi/shafi'i opinion on this issue since it is a new mas'ala which was not present until the last centuries.

Mohammed Odeh wrote an article on this issue showing that several astronomers of the past held the opinion of 18 degrees for the beginning time of Isha and Fajr.

15 degrees was not mentioned at all (for Isha also).

Nowadays, people allow 12 degrees for 'Isha and 15 degrees for Fajr...and this is not a madhhab related issue.

Asalamualaykum
09 July 2012*

Dear Imaams, Presidents of Masajid committees, Masajid committees and the Muslim Ummah,*I would like to bring to your attention that the issue with regards to salaah times in the UK has become a very controversial issue and a issue of great concern.*Alhumdulillah during this weekend we have made extensive research on this issue and came to a conclusion that the 18 degree timetable for salaah times is the correct method based on the principles of deen and jurisprudence. I would neither accept nor encourage any other method apart from the 18 Degrees.

The research followed a programme on Iqra TV yesterday evening where on the Panel there were experts in the field namely Sheikh Farid Patel, Sheikh Sulayman Gani, Imaam Shuayb Nurgat and Mr Abdul Aziz Ragee who gave a detail explanation with regards to this issue. I would like to at the same time take this opportunity and thank them for taking out there valuable time and educating the Muslim Ummah.

My Humble advice to Imaams and Masajid Committee’s in the UK:
As this issue is pertaining to the Ibadat of people such as Salaah and Fasting please look into the following advises with a positive approach and an open heart for the sake of Allah.

 As we have a fewodays before Ramadaan, Could all Masajid who are not using the 18 Degree timetable hold an emergency meeting and discuss this issue with utmost importance
 Accountability to Allah for not adhering to the correct timings should be the priority
 Recall all wrongly printed and distributed timetables by making announcements that they
are wrong
 To receive an up to date 18 degree timetable for the month of Ramadaan, it would be
advisable to either obtain it from masajid in your local area who are following the 18 degree timetable or contact Sheikh Farid who will be willing to help on the issue http://salahtimes.wikispaces.com/
 You could use the following link http://astro.ukho.gov.uk/surfbin/pla...5d5dded04ffa8d 0c 1. enter your post code or place 2. click on search 3. Click on the shaded area 4. Under section 1 click onto astronomical twilight 5. Leave section 2 out 6. Under section 3 click ok and the whole years calendar will be in front of you based on the 18 degrees. Look at the dates and you will find the times when one should commence fasting under the twilight section as highlighted
 You could obtain further sharia evidence from the following website www.wifaqululama.co.uk/
 The 18 degree method is adopted by The Muslim world league, Umul Qura Makkah, ISNA and many other leading organisations
 Masajid Commitees, with due respect your knowledge is limited on issues of deen. Could you please get Ulama on board to assist you make the right decisions with matters relating to deen such as this issue.
 Lastly I would like to conclude by saying that the 18 degree is the correct method based on the principles of deen and jurisprudence. I would neither accept nor encourage, promote or advise any other method apart from the 18 Degrees. As we have a few days left Please do recall all incorrect timetables and educate the Muslim Ummah
‘’and do not throw yourselves into destruction’’ (Quraan Sura baqara) JazakAllah
‘‘And do not destroy your deeds’’ Quraan
