Default Should Muslims boycott Al-Jazeera television?
salam,

The positive aspects of al jazeera is that it is of the few or only media outlet from Muslim world that has international professional standards and can speak to the global world. The documentary's they make are very good. And since it is coming from the Muslim world, it has better understanding of Muslims and Islam compared to other media.

The negative aspect is that it speaks and promotes the same neo-liberal worldview of the west. As such it is creating a neo-atheistic mindset among Muslims.

The arguments in favor of not boycotting al jazeera is that it is at least much better that the damage western media does. i.e favor lesser harm over greater harm. It at least helps in removing many of the misleading notions regarding Muslims to the international world. Other arguments being that they should be allowed to express their opinion i.e., freedom of expression and therefore the practicing Muslims should come up with their own media that can meet such professionalism if they want to promote themselves.

Arguments in favor of boycotting it would be that it would do more damage to have a neo-atheistic view being promoted under a Muslim face.

what are your views ?

Never! Al-Jazeera is the only somewhat 'known' media outlet coming from the Muslim world. There must be other media outlets like it. And we should not make Al-Jazeera as "Islamic channel of Al-Jazeera" ... it SHOULD be secular because that is why it has global audience.... Still better than nothing.

what are your views ?
Al-Jazeera is far from good (and al-Jazeera English is worse still) - Muslims should not have it on in their homes as it promotes things contrary to Islam - notably the very liberal views of the presenters and the inappropriate dress of the female presenters.

- If you want you daughters to stay hijabis in later life then do not poison their minds by bringing them up with these semi naked women in your home daily via your television set.

Practicing Muslims who follow scholars who hold the view that moving pictures are halal should definitely come up with their own TV stations to promote Islam InshaAllah as TV is a very powerful method of communication that is actually generally being used against us and against our values.

Q. When the kuffar used to attack the Muslims through poetry what did the Holy Prophet (saws) do?

A. He supported poets to use their skills on behalf of Islam

TV holds the same place in the modern world that poetry did in the ancient Arab world.

The atheists, Christians, Hindus and others promote their misguided views through a plethora of channels.

Even the Shiahs have several English satellite channels.

Sunni Muslims need to promote the truth through the same means.

__________________________________________________ ___________

If you use English language channels as an example their is already...

The Islam Channel which is quite good but is Salafi leaning. - Traditional Muslims could do a good thing by making something on a similar format but that is purely traditional and that is fully in English (not like Iqra or Takbir which have just a little English).

Peace TV English, which has some merits but is very Salafi orientated and Huda TV English, which is also quite good, but is also very Salafi orientated.

Press TV used to provide a more-Islamic source of TV news for English speakers but it was owned by the Iranians and therefore political coverage of the middle-east was wrong sided - Sunnis really need to establish an English language Sunni news channel on this line.

I suspect that Al-Jazeera could become a lot closer to Islam without putting off its international non-Muslim audience.

Al Jazeera english is definitely a leftist western propaganda front. It's so obvious from the amount of multiculturalist, leftist, cultural marxist, feminist, homosexualist nonsense that comes out of it.

The muslim masses seem too easily swayed into accepting AJ, just because it presents itself as sympathetic to muslims, ignoring the fact that it is also shoving liberal propaganda down our throats. It seems pretty clear that this is intentional. Muslims won't accept the liberal brainwashing from CNN, so 'they' had to make an outlet that presented their politically correct liberal nonsense in a way that was appealing to muslims. It's an ancient trick.

yes I think this is very much the case.

I think it may also be the case that al-Jazeera is a reflection of the liberal views and ideology of Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Ever since he overthrew his more conservative father Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani he has been using his power to liberalize Qatar, but what he fails to realize is that the liberalization of his country may well eventually lead to his liberal people getting rid of him and his family, because as liberals they are more likely to prefer a more 'modern' model of government.

My understanding is that the Qatari government operates with a policy of non-interference. So I doubt it has something tto do with the kings own agenda. It needs to be seen who sets the ideological biases of al jazeera or are they purely non-ideological welcoming all kinds of stories.

I also disagree with your last point. Your implying that a king who is power hungry would be better than one that is not.

One should note that al-jazeera is owned by jews. The reasoning for some of their programs especially the news aspect is psych warfare 101. A lot of muslims watch al-jazeera and several other "Islamic" news stations in which most are controlled by jews/kufaar. So what better way to incite Muslims then by constantly showing them how much the kufaar have destroyed the arab lands and of the like. mainstream western media will not show what al-jazeera does but thats the whole point...they are working with one another. Dont get me wrong, there has been excellent documentaries on this station but think about it Ya Muslimeen

I think muslims have a tendency to be fooled by multiculturalist rhetoric, because we are too driven by desires; to live in the west, to be rich, have 2 cars and a house etc. The fact remains that multiculturalism is kufr, muslims only tacitly accept it because doing so would allow us to fulfill these wants.

So al jazeera is looked upon favourably by muslims because this multiculturalist attitude is seen as pro-muslim. Well the fact is that this attitude is not pro-muslim. They have ulterior motives. It all relates back to the leftist ideology predominating in the west.

Why do you think leftists support immigrants (including muslims), just as vocally as they support gays, transsexuals and every other degenerate, even though muslim's beliefs are similar to christians, whom the left hate?

Quite the contradiction, I suggest you think about this.

Alhamdulillah!!! You have spoken the absolute truth akhi. many of the muslims today are not just ill-educated in matters of the deen but are blind to reality. Many do not think on our level nor do they perceive as we do...and that is exactly what they are aiming for. To take the ignorant person whether it be muslim or kufaar and manipulate the mind. I can honestly state that the pious and upright muslim would never watch tv but if they do, they would say la hawla wala quwwata illa billah. I did enjoy reading your post akhi...keep it up

Could you back up this claim with reliable evidence?

If one were to do alittle research, they would discover that the vast majority of media outlets are controlled by jews or their sympathizers. In fact, a kaafir named Alex Jones, who is very very popular, ousted al-jazeera on this issue in which there was so much documentation to prove it that my eyes and ears hurt. By saying that the jews dont control or influence the vast majority of media outlets is like saying the illuminati doesnt exist

I am sure they do. I am not saying the entire station is bad as I stated in a prior post. All I am saying is that liberalism,modernism,democracy,etc... has infested and plagued our beloved Ummah thus the victims of such treachery are the muslims. It is extremely rare to find an islamic tv station or radio show that is truly on the Haqq.

Al jazeera english? Never seen that. I've only see that their documentaries are all this multicult/social justice drivel. It's always stuff about how life is so bad in africa, and that all africans should be allowed to migrate to europe, etc. Just being frank here, but these things are clearly pushing an agenda.

I have watched programs on AJE. I agree with you that an agenda is being pushed and has been pushing for decades in fact centuries. Soon the khawaarij/salafis will have their own channel/show on the mainstream. The shia and qadianis and barelvis do.

Tropoly is talking about al-Jazirah Arabic. Naturally it is more sympathetic to the concerns of the Muslims than its English counterpart, though of course certain liberal biases do show through.

السلام عليكم
I have benefitted greatly from the AlJazeera channel both Arabic/English. I think it's unfair to judge this channel on religious merit as it doesn't claim to be representing Islam or portrays iself as an Islamic news channel (especially the english while the Arabic does have religous material) but should rather be judged based on how it ranks compared to it's competitors and personally AlJazeera is my most viewed news channel. However, that is not to say that I don't seriously dislike some of the material they cover and some views that they highlight, eventhough this may also have benefit as it can highlight problems that need attention. Allah knows best.

Tripoli I'am surprised you rarely watch this channel, I thought its very popular in where your from, any particular reason?

In what way you want it to become "closer" to Islam? Its an international media outlet...not some Islamic channel. Understand the difference brother.
