Default madarsatul Islah and maulana Hameeduddin Farahi
Assalaam,
I had heard that Maulana Thanvi had given a fatwa of kufr on madarsatul Islah and maulana Hameeduddin Farahi. is it correct? Are the graduates of this Madarsa in U.P, India, like Yusuf Islahi Ameen Ahsan ISlahi etc and their books (Tafseer Tadabbur e Quran )reliable?

Salam,

Does anybody have an answer to this question? I am curious too.

There is an article on Maulana Islahi here that highlighted his scholarship. Really impressed me -> http://www.al-furqaan.org/2009/08/th...slahi-1904-97/

Also, Dr Irfan Ahmad Khan wrote a book published by Islamic Foundation UK on Reflections on the Quran based on Farahi and Islahi's ideas. Does anyone recommend this book?

Lastly, what is deobandi opinion on nazm Quran (thematic commentary)?

Jzkk

Its been a long time since I asked this. Ulema from the subcontinent will be better placed in answering this.
Any ways, The Madarsa Islah in UP, India has been a hotbed of Jamaat Islami activism. Many leaders of jamaat (Past and present) are an alumni of this school.
Maulana Ameen Ahsan Islahi was a vice-president of Jamaat till he resigned from it.
His student was Dr. Israr Ahmed whose Quran dars are influenced by Maulana Ameen Ahsan Islahi's Tadabbur e Quran.

Are you implying that just because they got involved with Jamaati means they are misguided? Would it not be a testament to his uprightness that Maulana Islahi left the Jamaati later on?

Assalam Alaikum.

Hameeduddin Farahi Sahab didn't accept "khabar-e-wahid", and he also did not accept the punishment of "rajam".

His tafseer should be avoided, as it may lead a person astray.

I never meant to say that. I my self have not read many of his books and so I cannot form an opinion. That's why I asked this question here.

Can you elaborate on this? With sources and examples?
