Default Much Taller wife?

Discussing the matter with a brother on the issue of taller wives so what do people think? There are obviously loads of NEAR OR 6’ (foot +) Muslim Sisters...how does a husband feel if his wife is way taller then him?

Should this bother husbands?

Does it matter?

Does the Shariah have any recommendations?

Doesnt it depend on the person like some just dont like their wives to be taller than them and some are ok. After all it comes to likes and dislikes of a person. Physical feature do play a role and the liking will vary from person to person. I know couples where the wives are taller than their husbands and they are living normal life Alhamdulillah. I also know a case where the man divorced just because the wife is too tall. He saw the wife before marriage but he divorced later. Whatever the case, if one doesnt like the wife to be taller, it is better he doesnt get married to such a woman and mess up with her life.
In the fatwa below, the woman seems to have problem with the height of her husband too. Height or any physical feature can be an issue for some or even many when it comes to compatibility. Allahu alam

To be honest I think that I would feel uncomfortable if my wife was taller then me...I have no shame in admitting this

I think this is the case with both men and women. To a good extent, physical feature do play a role in liking a partner. If there are other good qualities a person is looking for, he/she might overlook the height thing but it again it depends on the person. Normally a woman prefers her husband to be taller than her and a man prefers his wife to be shorter than him. Allahu alam.

And i think it will bother men marrying women taller than them. Maybe something natural.

Men can have alot of insecurities sorrounding their height...they may feel less masculine...some over compensate with macho behaviour or some might be violent because they have a point to prove. The inner part of man is more important than the outward...if a short man is comfortable and confident with his height, he will not have issues if his wife is taller than him. Having said that I am not sure I would marry a taller woman, unless she had other qualities that were solid.

I know a few men who are shorter than their wives or who are very thin whilst their wives are very fat.

I dont think its a big issue at all - but then again I am over 6 ft tall.

Wasnt one of the ummahatul mumineen tall - I think umme salamah?

I don't think it should be a problem.

If the wife is taller - here's the solution...

Obviously its haraam for men to wear red so a blue or brown in it is just fine

I don't get what the problem would be. Could it be an intimidation or uncomfortable factor for a man or vise ersa?

If one spouse is taller/shorter than the other, they can reconcile by knowing their kids will all be medium size.

That's most Asian couples.

I would feel uncomfortable if my husband was shorter than me. But then again I wouldn't have turned down a good proposal based on any physical feature/deficiency.

No...Most Asian couples both husband and wife are fat. We are equal opportunity weight gainers.

You get used to it. For some it can be more painful than for others.

Surely its storing up back problems in later life...

If its a good Sister I probably wouldn't have either but it will be weird though...
