Where can I find inexpensive, even used, abayas?

Inshallah, I really want to start wearing an abaya. I'm a college student with no support from my parents (due to my conversion). Does anyone know of an inexpensive place to get new or used abayas?

If no one else is able to help, If you'd like I can buy one here in Saudi and when I get back to the states in Ramadan I can mail it to you for Allahs sake. The ones here are pretty good quality for not that much money.

These two sites are pretty good and reasonable in terms of price.

http://islamic-attire.com/

(Keep checking the clearance section - sometimes they have stuff for $15 or so). But the shipping is expensive.

http://www.eastessence.com

The main problem with buying online is that you can't be sure of the size and the fabric and can be really disappointed in the quality. Sometimes you don't exactly get what you see.

Another option is ebay!

I would pay you, especially if it's not expensive.

SubhanAllah sister may Allah make things easy for you, Id like to send you some money for an abaya inshAllah, how can I do this?

May Allah bless you, its great that your going to start wearing an abaya, im a revert too and proudly wear my thowb even in my home county which has no muslims (they think im wearing a dress lol but I dont care because the sunnah is more beloved to me than the judgement of people. I hope you get some nice abayas inshAllah and wear them with pride, you have 1.5billion brothers and sisters and you dont even need a single one of us if Allah enriches you from his bounties so dont worry, even us muslims are just greedy and want some ajr ;-) happy to hear you reverted and striving for your deen sister, sorry to hear that finances are low, perhaps marriage is a good option for you if you find a suitable brother inshAllah, there is no problem with being married and studying as long as you agree it with a brother before hand. I got married to a somali sister alhamdulillah, it really helps your deen and its nice to have some muslim family to celebrate eid, ramadan etc with, I really recommend marriage inshAllah if you feel the timing is right and its good for you to have a husband to provide for you and take care of you inshAllah.

If you'd like some money for an abaaya, I can send some via dahabshil if you have one there inshAllah

Sister Amna, ask the sisters in your local masjid. It's easy to find abayas that are extremely cheap {though they tend to look drab}. Also sis beware of giving out your address to complete strangers especially men....you don't know what their motivations are.

they cud be sent to a masjid instead of her house

O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful. 49:12 I've worked as a Daa'ii for a prominent Islamic website for several years, and we constantly sent out thousands of free literature to New Muslims, My motivation for offering her an Abaya is the reward of Allah, that's why I want to pay for it myself, similar to the saying of Allah.

[Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah . We wish not from you reward or gratitude. I also know some people in her city (I think she said she lives in Chicago), who may be able to give her an Abaya, I also know of a female shop owner in NJ who sells Islamic clothing that may be able to help, while in general she should be careful, there are brothers on this website who have been here for a long time that people know wouldn't have ulterior motives.

Or you can do us all a favor and give her one of yours.

MashAllah. that is really good. May Allah (swt) reward you for that.

Just an advice (it is off-topic sorry). Please avoid visiting forums which belong to deviant sects (you know what I mean).

JazakAllah Khair.

I don't have that :/ Do you still have my email address? I know you had it at one point. We can talk further there. (JazakAllah khair brother, even for the intention.) Thank you for the support too http://discussworldissues.com/forums...icon_smile.gif

Yes, I am careful. If we had messages I would explain better.

You have such a dangerous signature sister - in a society where everybody is ready to teach and no body is ready to listen. It is like having a signature saying recite a couplet to me in society full of poets.

A man was running after another.
Police caught the first one and the second one reached them in time.
Why are you chasing him? Policeman asked.
We are both Urdu poets, told the second man.
He has recited his couplet to me but now he is not giving me the opportunity to recite mine.

Brother Maripat's poetry means that nowadays everyone wants to teach others, or atleast want others to listen to their story, but no one wants to learn from other or listen to others' story. That is why he is intrigued by sister Amna4's signature (atleast there is someone who wants to learn).
