![]() No. That’s not true. The original land upon which Markaz was built was a barren land with high levels of soil salinity and belonged to a farmer and unfit for produce. Due to high soil salinity the underground water was too bitter to drink! Since being taken over as Markaz:
General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq (RA) paved the original road into Raiwind and the reason being was this was Logistical hub of Pakistan Army and good access was required to defend Pakistan’s Eastern front (thus to attack Khemkharan) as this was Pakistan Army’s strategy at the time. To facilitate a Pakistan Artillery attack on India he also stationed a division near Bahawalpur which is the most likely location of an India/Pakistan all-out mechanical war, NEXT. Since the latest Indian strategy for Pakistan is “Cold-Start” and the military value of Raiwind is greatly diminished and thus no official/Government development has taken place. Pakistan Army’s counter-strategy doesn’t put too much emphasis on Raiwind anymore. The present well paved dual carriage way/Motor way access was built by Nawaz Shareef because he wanted quick access to his lavish 43 acre house from Lahore to Raiwind. Both times Tableeghees have indirectly benefitted, firstly from Pakistan Army military strategy and secondly from the greed of a person. ![]() |
