![]() A beautiful compilation on Dr Tamins' blog.... Taken from the blog... Abu Bakr (RA) used to say that accountability was a great challenge for man. Once he entered a garden where he saw a ringdove sitting on a tree. Seeing the bird, Abu Bakr (RA) heaved a deep sigh, and said: "Happy you are O bird, that eats of the trees and seeks shelter beneath them, and are not called to account. Would that I were like you?" ![]() |

Mashallah very nice post.
Further to this; Reaction to praise: Once, someone highly praised Abu Bakr. After the man who praised him had left, Abu Bakr prayed to God: "O Allah, You know me more than myself, and I know myself more than these people who praise me. Make me better than what they think of me, and forgive those sins of mine of which they have no knowledge, and do not hold me responsible for what they say." Is the dua available in Arabic? anyone got access to it? |

While condoling the death of a companion, Abu Bakr said to the bereaved family: "There is no harm in patience, and no profit in lamentation. Death is easiest to bear than that which precedes it, and more severe than that which comes after it. Remember the death of the Apostle of God, and your sorrow will be lessened. "

![]() Hazrat Muhammed ![]() " Abu Bakr's name shall be called out from all the gates of Paradise, and he will be the first to enter of my followers to enter it" Even having known this, Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA), used to say, out of fear of Allah ![]() " I wish I were a tree that would be cut & done away with." ![]() One anecdote I'd like to verify is about Abu Bakr (ra) keeping a pebble in his mouth to prevent unnecessary talking. He would take it out when talking about necessary things. I was told this when I was a boy. I couldn't find any references to it though. I once heard Sh. Husain Abdul Satar's podcast which told about something similar but different, that the Sahabah used to dhikr all the time, it was always on their lips, so that they had to keep a pebble in their mouth when going to the toilet so that they wouldn't do dhikr while doing it. |
