Default The Fitnah of Takfir
The Fitnah of Takfir

The accusation of "Kufr and Shirk" upon Majority of Muslims by certain people who think that their own personal set of beliefs are right and others are wrong. This is a major strife which has been lurking around in Muslim Ummah since ages. Some people go to the extent of accusing the great Hanafi Muslims as a whole (including the Deobandis and Barelvis) and not to forget that they consider Shi’ites as disbelievers without a second thought.

Let us see how the Prophet (Peace be upon him) looked at Shirk in Muslim Ummah as compared to the self assumed Tawhid of certain extremists who show up with different names but mostly they belong to the same La Madhabiyyah sect.

The way Prophet (Peace be upon him) looked at concept of "Shirk" amongst Muslims

Translation: Narrated 'Uqba bin 'Amir: One day the Prophet went out and offered the funeral prayers of the martyrs of Uhud and then went up the pulpit and said, "I will pave the way for you as your predecessor and will be a witness on you. By Allah! I see my Fount (Kauthar) just now and I have been given the keys of all the treasures of the earth (or the keys of the earth) ”BY ALLAH! I AM NOT AFRAID THAT YOU WILL WORSHIP OTHERS ALONG WITH ALLAH AFTER MY DEATH, BUT I AM AFRAID THAT YOU WILL FIGHT WITH ONE ANOTHER FOR THE WORLDLY THINGS”

►Volume 2, Book 23, Number 428: (Sahih Bukhari)

Three Important points are to be noted from this hadith:

(A) This hadith itself proves that Prophet (Peace be upon him) has been granted “all” the keys to the treasures of the earth, the ironic thing is that this itself is shirk according to the extremists because they believe Prophet was an ordinary man who did not know of future. If you look carefully the hadith says that Prophet was watching his fount right from the earth, this proves the great Basarat (sight) of this mighty Prophet and If these claimants who say Prophet was just an ordinary man like us have any shame in them, then they should prove that they also see Jannah right from the earth.

(B) The Prophet (Peace be upon him) took an oath upon Allah, yes note again “OATH UPON ALLAH” and said that he is not afraid we will worship others along with Allah after his death, now these extremists are in actual claiming to know more than Prophet (Peace be upon him) who settled it once and for all by taking oath that we will not worship others along with Allah after his passing away.

(C) The Prophet (Peace be upon him) explained that We will fight with one another for “WORLDLY THINGS” ! So how does this fighting start? It starts by calling other Muslims as Kafir, tell us one Muslim on this earth who would like to be called as Kafir?
Note: Some people misinterpret this hadith by saying that it refers to the tenure of Sahaba only. However they forget to read the last part of this same hadith which states: "BUT I AM AFRAID THAT YOU WILL FIGHT WITH ONE ANOTHER FOR THE WORLDLY THINGS”...hence had this hadith only applied to the tenure of Sahaba then Shi'ites would become right in claiming that Sahaba fought over worldly matters (like supremecy in caliphate, wealth etc...

Hadith #2

Translation: Allah T’ala said: And Allah will not mislead a people after He hath guided them, in order that He may make clear to them what to fear (and avoid)- for Allah hath knowledge of all things. (Al-Qur'an, 9:115)

Bukhari relates from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (Allah be well pleased with him) "Ibn `Umar considered the Khawarij and the heretics as the worst beings in creation, and he said: They went to verses which were revealed about the disbelievers and applied them to the Believers.[Sahih Bukhari, Chapter of Killing the Khawarjites and Mulhideen, Volume No. 6, Page No. 2539]

This hadith is very important and it exposes the evil nature of the extremist sect like a bright sun. You will always see them misusing the Ayahs revealed for Kufaar and applying them upon Muslims, wait a minute “EVEN UPON THE PROPHET” yes I say again even “UPON THE PROPHET” so rest assured that their attribute is that of Khawarij who apparently looked and still look very religious, who recite Quran beautifully, who pray as If our prayers are inferior to theirs but in reality they pass through the religion just like an arrow passes through the target.

Quran states: O ye who believe! When ye go abroad in the cause of Allah, investigate carefully, and say not to any one who offers you a salutation: "Thou art none of a believer!.. (4:94)

What a beautiful ayah, even when we go for Jihad and if someone offers us salutation then we are ordered not to call them disbelievers, but look at the extremists who call even Muslims as disbelievers let alone other.

Hadith #3

Narrated Usama bin Zaid: Allah's Apostle sent us towards Al-Huruqa, and in the morning we attacked them and defeated them. I and an Ansari man followed a man from among them and when we took him over, he said, "La ilaha illal-Lah." On hearing that, the Ansari man stopped, but I killed him by stabbing him with my spear. When we returned, the Prophet came to know about that and he said, "O Usama! Did you kill him after he had said "La ilaha ilal-Lah?" I said, "But he said so only to save himself." The Prophet kept on repeating that so often that I wished I had not embraced Islam before that day.
►Volume 5, Book 59, Number 568: (Sahih Bukhari)

Subhan Allah this is an explicit proof that any Muslim who testifies by saying "La Ilaha Il Allah" cannot be declared as Mushrik, do the extremists still claim to know more than Prophet (Peace be upon him), rather Quran itself?

Hadith #4

Translation: Anas bin Malik (ra) narrates from the Prophet (Peace be upon him) who said: Three things are the roots of faith (1) To refrain from (killing) a person who says “La ILaha IL Allah” (2) Not to declare him unbeliever whatever sin he commits (3) and also not to declare him out of Islam due to any of his deed. Jihad continues from the day I was sent as Prophet to the day that last member of my community fight with the Dajjal. The tyranny of any tyrant and the justice of any just (ruler) will not invalidate it. One must have faith in Divine Decree. [Sunnan Abu Dawud, Volume No. 2, Hadith # 2170]

Hadith #5

Translation: Hudhaifa i.e. Ibn al Yaman (ra) said that the Prophet (saw) said: Verily, I fear about a man from you who will read the Qur'an so much that his face will become enlightened and he will come to personify Islam. This will continue until Allah desires. Then these things will be taken away from him when he will disregard them by putting them all behind his back and will attack his neighbor with the sword accusing him of Shirk. The Prophet was asked - which of the two will be deserving of such an accusation? - The attacker or the attacked? The Prophet replied - the attacker (the one accusing the other of Shirk)

►Narrated by Ibn Hibban in his Sahih, Tahqiq Nasir Albani, Volume 001, Page No. 200, Hadith Number 81] Nasir Albani said: 'this hadith is hasan' also see [Silsilat al-ahadith al-sahihah - Albani Volume 007-A, Page No. 605, Hadith Number 3201] Click Here for Scanned Page (80)
►Narrated by Ibn Hibban in his Sahih, Volume No. 1, Page No. 282,
►Bukhari in his Tarikh ul Kabir, Volume No. 4, Page No. 301,
►Haythami in Majma Az Zawaid, where he declared its chain to be “Hassan”, Imam Ibn Kathir declared the Chain as “Jayyid (strong)” in his Tafsir al Quran al Azim, Volume No. 2, Page No. 266]

Note: This hadith is also a backbone breaker of those who accuse other Muslims of Shirk. According to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) the accuser is more deserving to be a Mushrik than the accused. May our parents be taken ransom for Prophet of Mercy who has closed all doors for misguided people who go around calling majority of Muslims as Mushrikeen.

Hadith #6

Translation:"We were sitting in a circle in Kufa with Abu Hurayra whereupon a young man passed by. A man sitting with us said: 'This is a Kafir from among the people of the Fire.' Abu Hurayra rose and went to speak with the young man, asking him: 'Who are you?' He replied: Son of so-and-so.' Abu Hurayra said: 'Allah have mercy on your father!' The young man was looking around, so he asked him: 'What are you looking for?' He replied: 'I have not prayed yet.' Abu Hurayra said: 'So you pray?' The young man replied: 'Subhan Allah!' Abu Hurayra: 'And you say Subhan Allah?' He said: 'La Ilaha illAllah!!' Abu Hurayra: 'And you say La Ilaha illAllah?' The young man said: 'I would prefer not to leave Salat even if I were given all there is on the face of the earth.' Abu Hurayra said: 'Allah have mercy on you. Allah have mercy on you. Allah have mercy on you.' Then he came back to his seat in the circle and said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "Whoever bears testimony against a Muslim of which the latter is not deserving, let him prepare for himself a seat in the Hell fire." [Imam Ibn Asakir in Tibyan al Kadhib al Muftari, Page No. 373]

Hadith #7

Translation: From `Ubayd Allah ibn `Umar, from Nafi`: A man said to Ibn `Umar: "I have a neighbor who bears witness against me that I commit shirk." He replied: "Say: 'La Ilaha ill Allah,' you will make him a liar."[Imam Ibn Asakir in Tibyan al Kadhib al Muftari, Page No. 373]

Hadith #8

Translation: Akrama i.e. Ibn Ammar said that he heard Sawwar ibn Shabib al-A`raji say that he was sitting in Ibn `Umar's house when a man came and said: "O Ibn `Umar! There are groups of people bearing witness against us and attributing to us kufr and shirk." Ibn `Umar replied: "Woe to you! Did you not say: 'La Ilaha IllAllah'?!" Whereupon the entire household began to say La Ilaha Ill Allah until the house was shaking.[Ibid]

Hadith #9

Translation: From al-A`mash, from Abu Sufyan:We came to see Jabir ibn `Abd Allah who lived in Makkah and resided with the Banu Fihr. A man asked him: "Did you [the Companions] use to call anyone from the People of the Qibla [i.e. Muslims], 'Mushrik'?" He replied: "I seek refuge in Allah." The man continued: "Did you call anyone from them 'Kafir'?" He said: "No."[Ibid]

Muslims should exclaim loudly : "Subhan Allah" and "La Ilaha il Allah" till all of us make a roar, then Alhamdulillah we will make the accusers as liars themselves!

We would like to conclude our article with these verdicts from Imam Ibn Abideen ash-Shami (rah) and Allama Ahmed Sawi (rah)

Imam Ibn Abideen ash-Shami (rah)

Translation: (Ibn ‘Abidin His words and who consider the Companions of our Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) to be disbelievers are not a condition for someone to be a kharijite, but rather are a mere clarification of what those who revolted against ‘Ali (Allah Most High be well pleased with him) in fact did. Otherwise, it is enough to be convinced of the unbelief of those they fight against, as happened in our own times with the followers of [Muhammad ibn] ‘Abd al-Wahhab, who came out of the Najd in revolt, and took over the sanctuaries of Mecca and Medina. They followed the Hanbali madhhab, but believed that they were the Muslims, and that those who believed differently than they did were polytheists (mushrikin). On this basis, they held it lawful to kill Sunni Muslims (Ahl al-Sunna) and their religious scholars, until Allah Most High dispelled their forces, and the armies of the Muslims attacked their strongholds and subdued them in 1233 A.H. [1818] [Ibn Abideen – Rahimuhullah in Radd ul Mukhtar ala Dur al Mukhtar, Volume No.4, Page No. 262]

Imam Ahmed al Sawi (Rahimuhullah)

Imam Ahmed al Sawi (Rahimuhullah) in his magnificent commentary over Tafsir al Jalalyn by Imam Jalal ud din Suyuti (rah) explains this verse : Truly, the Devil is an enemy to you, so take him as an enemy: he only calls his party to become of the inhabitants of the blaze" (Qur’an 35:6) as:

Translation: It is said this verse was revealed about the Kharijites [foretelling their appearance], who altered the interpretation of the Qur’an and Sunnah, on the strength of which they declared it lawful to kill and take the property of Muslims—as may now be seen in their modern counterparts; namely, a sect in the Hijaz called "Wahabiya, (فرقة بأرض الحجاز يقال لهم الوهابية)" who "think they are on something, truly they are the liars (Kadhibeen). Satan has gained mastery over them and made them forget Allah’s remembrance. Those are Satan’s party, truly Satan’s party, they are the losers" (Qur’an 58:18–19). We ask Allah Most Generous to extirpate them completely [Hashiya al-Sawi ‘ala al-Jalalayn, 3.255]

Note: This Tafsir was tried to be forged and the sentence which mentions Wahabiyyah was removed by the same sect in order to fool people, but they were unsuccessful in it.

Assalamu alaykum

and not to forget that they consider Shi’ites as disbelievers without a second thought. Why second thought for them. They abuse mother of believers, khulafa-e-rashideen and beloved sahabah.

They declare that except for 3 sahabah all others are non-muslims. And still we have to consider about their imaan.

A sunni Muslim (in general) will make you a disbeliever in a minute especially on sunniforum... The good thing about that is Allah is not a Sunni Muslim.... So we don't have to be worried about being judge by them... Al Hamdullah....

A sunni muslim will think hundred times before calling some one a non-believer. After witnessing the tabarrah majlis videos, their statements, their barking, we sunnis speak on shias. And Allah swt knows what is there in the hearts of shias.

The man most infamous for Takfir(Ahmed Reza Barelwi) was not a La-madhhabi. Some of his verdicts include:
"Those belonging to Nadwat ul 'Ulama are disbelievers and those who do not call them disbelievers are disbelievers.
The scholars of Deoband are disbelievers and those who do not call them disbelievers are disbelievers.
The ghayr muqallidin of the Ahl Hadith are disbelievers.
Mawlana 'Abd al Bari Farangi Mahalli is a disbeliever, as well as another who committed the crime of joining the Khilafat movement, his brother in Tariqa, Maulwi 'Abd al Majid Badayuni.
Mawlana 'Abd al Qadir Badayuni is a disbeliever. Of disbelief he was a relentless machine gun, Allah have mercy. Besides few groups of people in Bareilly no one remains a Muslim.
Thus it is possible, believing this turmoil and uproar from Khan Sahib and those like him who called Godly people disbelievers to be the barking of dogs, he (Imam Rashid Ahmad Gangohi) preferred to maintain silence. The principle is:

Indeed I pass by the base one who insults me
I pass by from there saying: It does not concern me."

(Fayslah kun Munazarah by Mawlana M Manzur Nu'mani, translated into English by Mawlana Zameel ur Rehman)

Assalamu Alaikum

brother you are following the Maliki madhab but you speak like you are you not a Sunni Muslim and like you are against them?

I cannot understand this at all.

You say the Sunnis make someone a disbeliever in a minute? you are talking about every great figure of Islam from Imam's Malik, Abu Hanifa, Shafii, Ahmad (may Allah bless them and give them peace) onwards and before like this?

you imply that the people who go on Sunniforum are takfiris? that is bizarre there are various types of Muslims who go on Sunniforum and the vast majority of them follow Orthodox traditional Sunni scholars who are very unlikely to declare someone a disbeliever without a very strong and very clear (unambiguous) reason to do so.

At the same time Allah is of course not a Muslim - He (SWT) is the Rabb/Lord of the Muslims and of all creation.

Now if we look at the Muslims who are not Sunnis...

- the extremist twelver Shi'ite sect (the majority of Shi'ites) accuses most of the Sahaba of becoming disbelievers and they clearly think that all non-Shi'ites (that is the great majority of the Muslims past and present) are not real Muslims and that they are to be lied to and converted to twelver Shi'ism through trickery, mission or force.

_ the extremists amongst the Salafis list practically everyone except themselves to be in the sects of the hellfire.

_ the extremists amongst the Ahle Hadeeth believe that all those who have made taqleed (the vast majority of Muslims through history) have followed other than Allah.

-the Ibadis hold practically every other type of Muslim apart from themselves in low esteem and doubt their Islam.

etc...

the Sunnis (Ahlus Sunnah wa Jamaat) are the main body of the Muslims, those on the straight path. Prophet Muhammad (saws) told us to stay with the majority group and the majority group of Muslims throughout history has always been that of the Sunnis.

I think that maybe you meant to say something other than what you did, but you made a mistake in your wording that just made it appear that you intended to say what you did.

There are two extremes in Islam. One is Takfiris and others are Mujiah and Ahl-e-Sunnah are between these two extremes. May Allah protect all of us from these two extremes.

What some very differen't scholars said about the Rafidite Shi'ites...

1) Imam Ash-Shafi'i: On one occasion Imam Shafi'ee said concerning the Shia, "I have not seen among the heretics a people more famous for falsehood than the Raafidi* Shia." and on another occasion he said; "Narrate knowledge from everyone you meet except for the Raafidi* Shia, because they invent ahaadeeth and adopt them as part of their religion." (Minhaj as-Sunnah an-Nabawiyyah)

*(Some shia at the time of the Alid Imam Zayd ibn 'Ali demanded that he make a declaration of innocence (tabarra) from whoever disagreed with 'Ali's right to be Imaam. When Zayd refused, they rejected him, and became known as the "Raafida" or rejectors. Those who followed Imaam Zayd became known as Zaydis, and have very little difference from mainstream Islam. The Raafidi evolved into the the various Imaami shia sects, the largest of which is the Ithna 'Ashari.)

2) Imam Abu Haneefah: It is reported that often Imam Abu Hanifah used to repeat the following statement about the Raafidi Shia; "Whoever doubts whether they are disbelievers has himself committed disbelief."

3) Imam Malik: Once when asked about the Raafidi Shia, Imam Malik said; "Do not speak to them or narrate from them, for surely they are liars." During one of Imam Malik's classes, it was mentioned that the raafidi Shia curse the sahaba. Imam Malik recited the verse, "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah and those with him are harsh with the disbelievers and gentle among themselves. So that the disbelievers may become enraged with them." (48:29) He then said, "Whoever becomes enraged when the Sahâbah are mentioned is the one about whom the verse speaks." (Tafseer al-Qurtubi)

4) Imam Ibn al- MUBAARAK: was reported to have said "Religion is gained from Ahl al-Hadeeth, scholastic theology, and crafty exemptions from religious ordinances from Ahl-ar-ray and lies from the Raafidite Shi'ites.

5) Abu Zur'ah ar-Razi: He said of the raafidi Shia doctrine of cursing the Sahâbah, "If you see someone degrade any of the companions of the Prophet SAWS know that he is a disbeliever. Because the Prophet SAWS was real, what he brought was the truth and all of it was conveyed to us by way of the Sahâbah. What those disbelievers wish to do is cast doubt on the reliability of our narrators in order to invalidate the Qur'an and Sunnah. Thus the disbelievers are the ones most deserving of defamation."

6) Ibn Hazm al-Andalusi: During the period of Muslim rule in Spain, Imam Abu Muhammad ibn Hazm would often debate with the Catholic priests about their religious texts. He brought before them evidence of textual distortions in the Bible and the loss of the original manuscripts. When they replied by pointing out the Shia claims that the Qur'an has been distorted and altered, Ibn Hazm informed them that Shia claims were not valid evidence because the Shia were not themselves Muslims.

7) Imam Al-Alusi: He declared the raafidi Shia disbelievers because of their defamation of the Sahaba. His position was based on the rulings of Imam Malik and other scholars. In response to their claim to be followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (the Prophet's SAWS family) Al-Alusi said, "No, they are really followers of the devils and the Ahl al-Bayt are innocent of them."

8) Muhammad Rasheed Rida: This scholar was among those who worked sincerely for rapproachment between the shia and the sunni, and they in turn pretended moderation for his benefit. However, in the midst of his efforts, they caught him by surprise by presenting him with a number of their books which slander Islam. He then replied in a paper called As-Sunnah wa Ash-Shia in which he exposed their false doctrines and idolatrous practices.

9) Dr. Hilali: After living close to the shia for some years, the famous Moroccan scholar, Dr. Hilali wrote a paper on them in which he declared them to be disbelievers.

10) Abul-A'la Maududi: wrote an introduction to the book, "Ar-Riddah bain al-Ams wa al-Yaum" In it was written, regarding the Imami Ja'fari Shia, "despite their moderate views (relative to other shi'ia sects), they are swimming in disbelief like white bloodcells in blood or like fish in water."

Assalamu Alaikum

I cannot understand this at all.

I think that maybe you meant to say something other than what you did, but you made a mistake in your wording that just made it appear that you intended to say what you did.
Well, I am Sunni... It has been my experience that Sunni Muslims are very judgmental, self righteous and arrogant... which is why I do not go to the masjid anymore.... quick to lable this person or that person a disbeliever, a deviant, sinful etc etc etc... Sunni Muslim say these things as if they are perfect as if they are rightly guided, as if none of their personally beliefs which they may not voice may amount to kufr, shirk, bidah etc etc etc...

There isn't a scholar or group within Sunni Islam that I can think that has not been critisized by someone or some other scholar...

Sunni Muslims are very judgmental... Only their shaykh is right concerning everything.... And only their shaykh can deviate from the dominate opinion because they have proof...

If you do anything which a sunni muslim might be able to consider disbelieve... they will call you a kafir..... in a second.... Husni Dunn is something Sunni Muslims do not practice.... As far as what I have experienced....... Muslims are far from merciful... Muslims are only concerned with the easy sunnah's (growing a beard, which takes no effort at all) and completely neglect the difficult ones (husni dunn, being merciful, having good character, etc etc)...

I am so sick and tired of this... Don't muslims have anything nice to say about anyone.... Oh yeah their shaykh.... forget everybody else... I'm been hanging around for so many years, I just realized I have taken up their bad habits of critisizing people.... Even now, I am critisizing Muslims.... Mentioning the haram.... which is haram... it's just frustrating.....

You can't disprove that sunni muslims are NOT judgmental because I have experienced it on all levels, every sunni group that i've been to... Deobandi, Shadhilis, Salafis, naqshabandis... Ikwanis, wahabis, the people at zaytuna.... every single group..... I have experienced with....

Down other Muslims to elevate themselves..... to make them look good.... As if to tell people you should follow me... how arrogant....

Well, I am Sunni...
Chillax bro.
Just because Muslims have faults doesn't decrease the Path of Islam. Just don't worry about what others say, we all make mistakes. Its the heart that forgives that matters. Just relax ok. I have seen you put unnecessary strain on yourself in such matter, its the trick of shaytaan. Don't fall for it bro. Remember today is thursday Lets free our hearts.

Narrated Abu Huraira (ra): Allah's Messenger said: "Every Monday and Thursday, the gates of Paradise are open. Allah forgives every slave who associates no name in worship with Him except those who quarrelled with one another. Allah says to the angels: Leave them until they reconcile."
[Muwatta Book 47, Number 47.4.17]

Untold Truth Beware of waswisu

when you spoke this time the truth remained, very much untold.

it seems every Sunni Muslim group is bad according to you

there is a difference between sensation and perception

you are harsher than any of those you criticize

as you have apparently looked at the people of all these groups

and through your arrogance counted the faults of all the Muslims you saw

all the time you were counting you were blind to your own great faults

change your ways because when you are harsh on others and Allah is harsh on you

May Allah guide you in the best of ways and save you from the path that you have embarked upon

[QUOTE=UntoldTruth;748771]Well, I am Sunni... It has been my experience that Sunni Muslims are very judgmental, self righteous and arrogant... which is why I do not go to the masjid anymore....

That is no reason to stop going to the Masjid brother. I would ask yo to reconsider your position. You go there to pray to Allah, pray in congregation as our beloved Prophet (SAW) has ordered us to do. You don't like the attitude of folk in the masjid, I probably would not aswell. Its life, people may be how you describe, they'll always have opinions. This is a state of turmoil amongst many muslims, but it is more important for us to see through that turmoil, keep up our Ibaadah & observe the Sunnah the best we can. Thats our duty, you don't need to partake in anything else they do and you may leave afterwards. I hope things improve for you brother.

Allahu A'lam

Assalam alikum wa rahmat Allah
I feel that frustration too (to some extend) as brother untold truth. I belive the truth of a belief system after all is manifest in ones behavior. general hatred is sign of wrong in ones belief which at end will corrupt ones heart. I consider my belief along doebandi traditional islam. may be the great ulama of doband RA were under pressure to be accepted in Arab dominated wahabi islamic world. so they have this tendency of Arab favoritism and with non Arab we say in persian (kaseh dagh tar as ash) a bowl that is hotter than the soup it contains . But izza come from Allah.

let me share with you two of my experience out of many many

I am sunni and I owe it to atbligi brothers for showing me the way of sunnah. about ten years ago or so, I was attending one of the tablighi ijtima in orlando. I remember sheikh katani may Allah bless him was one of the speakers. at the close of the ijtima I stopped by a table that was selling books. I really wanted to buy a particular book (I belive sheikh thanvi's collection) but I did not have enough money( I was few dollar short). so jokinglly I said to one of the the three brothers who were standing behind the table that, more or less"brother I am short few dollars I hope religous knowledge was not for money or something to that effact. brother asked me; what country you are from? I said from Iran. his face readily changed. he gave me a lecture on how people like me spend thousands of dollars for their children video, game etc and he insisted that I should not have said such a thing. strangly he was coming around the table to hit me I backed off and melded in the crowed. to this day the memory of that event disturb me. he was not a big guy either and i could have disfigured his face in a minute. but after listening to sheikh katanis words i could not get angry alhamdulillah.

some years ago a sheikh from england was coming to the masjid that I used to attend. so like many others I was also happy that we are going to get a sheikh and especially I was told he was sufi oriented and knows salafi polemic very well. anyways upon his arival I met the sheikh with lots of love and happiness. to my surprise I received coldness and desdain. the suspicion, coldness that shia polemic has created in sunnah populace is very unhealthy and not good at all.It is unIslamic

many Muslims are suffering from many sicknesses of the nafs (like egoism, racial egoism, hassad etc),

many many Muslims have very bad adab,

is this the fault of Allah and his messenger or the fault of those individuals who choose to be like this?

is this the fault of the great Imams of Sunni Islam and the Sunni tareeqas or the fault of those individuals who choose to be like this?

it is of course the choice of these foolish and unpleasant individuals who choose to be like this.

and many of them are ruining their own hereafters by wiping away their good deeds with their bad ones

but when you meet them what is it that Allah requires of you

A. tolerance and forgiveness

or

B. intolerance and brooding

?

dear brother please expand on what you are saying here, because in my stupidity I am unable to understand the full gist of this part of what you wrote.

Well, I am Sunni...
Then I guess it is time that we try to truly be a Muslim, that stands above any cultural baggage, universal enough to be a true loving and humble human that fits as a caliphate on this earth, ain't? Or at least we die trying .

assalam alikum wa rahmat Allah,
hate is one of the malices of our heart. some brothers legitimize it in the guise of love of sahaba or deen. you can know them in a second. just ask them a question they talk like a parrot. statements that filled with emotions and seldom thought or contemplated. shia sunni debate is a good example of that. And what I have seen in especially indo-pak brothers behavior in this regard has nothing do do with Islamic character. I counted some personal example .
