Nasser hussain is not a muslim as i have been told he once dismissed religion in an interview.
Same with Zidane who when asked about the hijab issue in france, he simply just shrugged his shoulders as if he was a mute. Then again when you marry a christian dancer or ex-dancer, what are your beliefs going to be? Ribery mashallah is a revert and is practising. I have a lot of respect for Naseem Hamed, who even though wasn't the most practising ( or appeared not to be), promoted Islam wherever he went. In Las Vegas before his last fight, the azan blared out. Who has the guts to do that in this day and age? Respect to him for that. I'm not surprised there were footballers from French clubs in a jamaat, as tableegh work is growing phenomenally in France with the youngsters lapping it up!. It's even putting the UK to shame, which says something mashallah! Being a sporting icon is such an amazing platform to do dawah, that the rewards will be huge for the person who does it. May Allah give Becks hidayah so he can give dawah too. Ameen ![]() |

I know one thing about brother Amir Khan, he does have some affinity with Islam. He may be lacking in the outward appearance, but I bet, if he was put in a corner(no pun intended) he would defend Islam.
I didn't know Frank Ribery was a convert!! Also, Robin Van Persie's wife is a muslim. I think, to be honest, some sports starts dont openly wear their religeon on their sleeves for fear of discrimination. I think alot of these guys do alot of work, privately, to help Islam, but don't want to do it in the lime light. |

Yep Ribery is muslim as is some french coach ( forgot his name). Van persie's wife is muslim because he is muslim too lol. He reverted long before he was introduced to her, through his friendship with a moroccan caretaker at his school in Netherlands.
Some Arsenal players are muslim too. Don't know how practising. What gets my goat is when they drink water during Ramadan and play a game. I saw an LFC player ( he's gone to Juve now) do it and lost respect for him because of that. To openly do that in Ramadan is disappointing. Such an amazing opportunity to promote Islam and they waste it ![]() |

Well, they might have a fatwa from a scholar they know who might have said its ok not to fast and to make them up later. I think its very different to when a cricketer fasts and a footballer as they are both different in the physical side.
Not agreeing or disagreeing, just give a alternative view, thats all. |

![]() MashaAllah, Hashim scored a century today and guided South Africa to a draw against England when it appeared that England would have been the run-away winners until 2 days ago. Cricinfo has the following words of praise for him: Amla and Neil McKenzie deadened the match in the morning session, surviving unscathed at lunch, though by no means did England simply go through the motions. They persisted in a war of bouncers against Amla, attacking his supposed weakness; James Anderson, in particular, cranked up impressive pace from the Pavilion End, and fired in bumper after bumper to try and unsettle Amla. Yet not even an extraordinary leg-side field reminiscent of Bodyline could waver Amla's concentration, as he ducked, weaved and evaded all Anderson threw at him. Anything on his legs was duly whipped through midwicket with subcontinental elasticity. With Amla nudging and nurdling on a lifeless pitch, this was more Lahore than Lord's. http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/engv...ry/361068.html Also, Mohammed Yousuf has pulled out of the upcoming Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan saying he doesn't want to play in the holy month of Ramadhan MashaAllah. It is high time that cricket administrators, especially the Muslim ones, realize the importance of Ramadhan and don't schedule anything during the month. http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/iccc...ry/361091.html Wassalam |

Allah Ta'ala may shower peace, blessing & mercy on you.
Yes, brother had rightly said that it is a kind of silent dawah. Truly, it gives immense pleasure to see pic of Hashim Amla & other saathi. Does anyone have info about reverted brazilian soccer player KAKA, wrestler Muhammed Ali, Mike Tyson etc. As far as Indian cricketer are concerned, Wasim Jaffer use to go in 3days jamate during his struggling time from our local masjid in Mumbai. His entire family is associated with TJ & are practising TJ as well. Couple of months back, he met one of our saathi in Mumbai markaz & expressed his concern about not spending time in TJ. Alhamdulillah he is particular about salaat & saum. Duo Irfan pathan & Yusuf pathan have been brought up in the environment of masjid, since their father was a muazzin of a barelvi masjid in Baroda. Inspite of this, they are far astray from the deen. They have been observed wearing gold chains/shorts, aquantainence with page3 characters. It seems even their father had changed, shortened his beard, replaced kurta with shirt etc. I am sorry, if mentioning above details is entitled as backbitting. Allah Ta'ala knows best |

![]() I was fortunate to visit Saeed Anwar in Karachi, and I spent perhaps 15-20 minutes with him. My friend introduced me as a cricket player/administrator (which I no longer am b/c Alhumdolillah I have devoted my time to Deen as much as possible). So Saeed bhai said this one liner which was cricket related and it really hit the heart. He said "Ap to itni boori pitches per khelay, phir bhi itnay achay khelray hain, hum to zabardast pitch per bhi nahin apkay tara khelsactay hain" The literal translation - "You play on bad pitches (surfaces) yet play so well, we play on beautiful surfaces, yet can not play as well as you". The meaning was that in such a land of filth and sin, we (talking to me and my brother from the USA) are playing so well (Following the Sunnah)... and those who live in PK which is a land of Islam, still can not follow the Sunnah. This one liner in URDU really hits the heart. May Allah (swt) give us all the taufeeq to accell over the rest, and stick to the Sunnah of the Nabi Rasul ![]() May Allah (swt) grant Jannat al Firdous to people like Mohammed Yousuf, Saeed Anwar, and Hashim Amla who in their Silent DAWA are turning heads around. |
