I think it mainly depends on which school the scholars in your area or those you refer to are upon.

This is the probably the main criteria for most NON students to decide.

If it was a choice just to choose any regardless of geographical location then i would say probably hanbali, but that's mainly because they seem to be most strongest in sticking to earlier beleifs of their imam.

In fiiqh its difficult to say.
Interesting you would say that, how do you believe hanbalis' athari creed helps them in furu where creed isnt relatred to fiqhi issues?

I'm not sure if it helps them in furu. Just saying those on hanbali fiqh are more correct and strict in following their imam in aqeeda, or so it seems.

The salafist like to show they are super pious by their display of relegiosity aggressively, often labled as Hanbali.
Their austere look and bullet flying out of their mouth and their taqiyah tactics works well on those who only sees with eyes only.
For me, they drive people away from deen eventually.

If I wasn't a Maliki I'd be a Hanafi

Hanafi Madhab has many big brains from Imam Abu Hanifa (raa) onwards and much ijtehad has been made by them for various situations

But Malikiyyah has Amal of Madinah and the security of following tradition not so much thought/rai

If it would have survived i would have been a Mubaraki (He had a bit of Hanafi, Maliki, Awza'i etc in him), excelled in both Hadith and Fiqh, awesome figure, Hujjat al-Islam.

If I wasn't a Hanafi, I'd be...a Hanafi.
