Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatuLLAHI wa barakatuHU wa maghfiratuHU,
Do, while in their graves, people who are dead make dua for their loved ones living in this world? Do they (the dead ones) know whatever happens to their living relatives? JazakumULLAH khair, Wassalam |

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatuLLAHI wa barakatuHU wa maghfiratuHU, ![]() No. Normal dead people are not aware of the affairs of their relatives. If they are good people they are put to sleep till the Day of Judgement. If they are bad people they suffer the punishment of the Grave. The Angels say to the Pious in the grave, "Sleep with restfulness and comfort just like a bride."(Mishtak) But, the case of the Prophets and the Martyrs are different. There is an authentic hadith which mentions that our beloved Rasoolullah ![]() تُعرضُ علیّ أعمالُکم فما رأيتُ مِن خيرٍ حمدتُ اﷲَ عليهِ وَ ما رأيتُ مِن شرِّ نِاسْتغفرتُ اﷲَ لکُم. The Prophet(saw) said : "I am shown your deeds, if they are Good I am grateful to Allah and if they are bad than I pray to Allah for your forgiveness." (مجمع الزوائد، 9 : 24) If you want to know more about life after death listen to this lecture by Shaykh Hassan Ali: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAhgITGEObI |
