Default Mawlid celebrated in Philadelphia
I'd never thought I'd see the day that this would happen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeVw6Sp7FkU&sns=em

Sad...Philadelphia have so many social issues and problems even among the Muslim communities...these brothers time would be better spent doing more important things.

What tariqa is this...do you know?

There were people from various Turuq that participated but it appears that they were mostly Qadiri

I know some of those brothers personally. May Allah increase them in their ilm, keep them steadfast in their deen, and keep them strong in their resolve to subdue the mujassima in that city.

Shaikh AbdurRahman Sondalaani (ha) is among them, he is in the center of the screen (4th from the left) with a white turban.

Allah is blessing the city of Philadelphia in many ways that many of us would never begin to understand

There remains some truth in you statement earlier simply performing Mawlid is not enough to address the social ills throughout the community, what is sorely needed are people of substance who perform actions of substance

People need to get some 'ilm before criticising other muslims. See how stupid the OP looks now?

as a sure way to show your tawba go research using "Barzanji mawlid" as the keyword. and post your conclusion here so others can also benefit from this blessed practice.

"O Allāh, perfume his noble grave / with the fragrant scent of blessings and peace
O Allāh, honour, bestow peace, and shower blessings upon him and his family"

Why are people attacking each other on this thread muslimsister101 and Saqqib_Ali bhai. Never think you are better. Atleast they are doing Mawlid in philadelphia Alhumdulillah! Rather than going to nightclubs and drinking, girls etc which should be easily accessible there lol.

May Allah guide us all

Philly is pretty much ground zero in the US in terms of the Aqeeda/Manhaj wars.

The Salafis there are hardcore Madkhalis, perhaps the worst in the US, and I just hope their extremism doesn't cause the Asharis/Sufis there to fall into the opposite extreme.

hmm...YOU say it is sad that people are doing mawlid barzanji and I need to go and do some tauba? ok, that makes sense.
Disapproving of what allah has made halal isn't really a good thing. and then where do I exactly GO to GET tauba. That's not in my aqeedah, allah accepts tauba anywhere you are.

Asking people to make tauba isn't really attacking people, and btw I make tauba all the time. People should always be making tauba, just for the sake of it. We don't always know when we are doing wrong

It has potential to end up that way unfortunately, being too friendly about Salafis and not speaking of their evils at least once a day can have one deemed as questionable in the eyes of some folk

Spot on. These sufis are more dangerous. If you do not do enough zikr of wahhabi, wahhabi, wahhabi, then in their eyes you become one.

I don't know of a reason why a muslim woudn't want to join others who are praising the prophet.

I made dua because they were doing a good deed, why would I start making random duas for people doing nothing?

My brother you make random duas for people just out of love for other Muslims and love for humanity. For example I do not know of you doing anything good in particular but I pray that Allah give you the best in the life and the best in the Hereafter
