Sorry for late reply - I just saw the thread.
He was from Ahl-e-Sunnah Wal Jama-at and a Hanafi.
He dabbled little bit in modernity, unfortunately very late in life, but finally overcame the hiccups.
His book on history of Muslims is more concise than others available in the market.
He is considered one of the greats of theology department of Aliagrh Muslim University.
Does it help?

Thank you Dr Sahab (DB).
The Al-Huda link was not working for me so I gave the Amazon link.
Maulana had a role in making my Shaikh(DB)'s father, late Hakim Muhammed Ifhamullah Sahab (RA), a member of the Shoura of Dar-ul-Uloom.
Wassalam

PS: I wonder whether brother Hussain visits the Forum now a days - but you anyway have made this thread alive.

This is part of our history. May be Maulana could not manage it deftly but I have rarely seen scholars handling this topic.

Yes, I'm close to one other scholar of Deoband, senior, he teaches there and he once explained this to us quite beautifully, unlike how its been done so in rise and fall of Muslims. My suggestion then is 'Don't read this book: The rise and fall of Muslims' at least not for laymen like me.

Apart from that, bro do you know, Allamah Qamruddin Saheb db (though, he is not the scholar who explained)

It will be very nice if that explanation becomes available to public because this is a point which is very delicate. And I completely agree with your sensitivities also.

Maulana Qmaruddin Sahab (DB) is a khalifa of my grand Shaikh Hazrat Shah Abrar-ul-Haq Sahab Haqqi Sahab (RA) (number 77 in this list) but I do not have personal contact with him.

I suppose you are not talking about Hazrat Maulana Qamaruzzaman Sahab (DB), Jaanashin and son-in-law of Hazrat Shah Muhammed Ahmed Sahab (RA)? In that case two of them will be different.

Wa alaykum salaam

I stopped visiting this forum some time ago, your reply on this thread sent me an email so here I am again

One of these days I had actually planned on making a thread on Maulana Saeed Akbarabadi rh, but bro Maripat & bro Abu Tamim, don't mind, I have his book 'the rise and fall of muslims' of which I read about a 100 pages or so and put it down (didn't continue reading it) 'coz I felt my love and respect for the Sahaba ra was going down. But then it could be just me who felt it in such a way, but...

I can do without such knowledge.
I was actually planning to burn this book as I thought the author (Ml Saeed rh) was not from ASWJ. That book does not give any intro on the Maulana, infact, the cover just says 'Saeed Akbarabadi' and the 2nd page says 'Maulana Saeed Akbar Abadi'

It was actually after reading passages like this from that book that I made this thread as I wanted to know who the author was. I have been constantly told by Deobandis to avoid Jamaat-e-Islami people because they attack Sahaba, although I myself have never heard or read a single J.I person say this in there own literature or talks, I have only heard them speak good of the sahaba. When I read this book I thought this might be a J.I person and thats what Deobandis have been talking about all the time. Now I'm really surprised to find out that he is actually Deobandi as well, so why are there not piles of refutations against him? Makes me wonder is the attack on J.I people from Deobandis really standing up for the principle or is just out of partisanship?

It will be very nice if that explanation becomes available to public because this is a point which is very delicate. And I completely agree with your sensitivities also.
Wa alaykum salaam

Yes this is a delicate that needs to be dealt with because ignorant people can get easily influenced by rafidi lies and distortions.

That book is really not beneficial when learning about the history of the early generations but it does have good summaries of later Islamic dynasties. However the bad outweighs the good to me.

For an accurate and detailed portrayal of the events in the time of the Sahaba, I recommend the series of lectures called "the Fitna" by Sh. Kamal al-Mekki.

The Fitnah

By: Kamal El Mekki

A look at the early history of Islam from the time of Uthman Ibn Affan..until Abdullah Ibn Azzubair.
CD-1: The life of Uthman Ibn Affan: His Khilafa and the begining of the Fitnah.
CD-2: The beginings of the Fitnah(cont). The assassination of Uthman and the pledge to Ali.
CD-3: Ali regains the provinces and the Army of Aisha, Talha, and Azzubair.
CD-4: The Battle of Al-Jamal and the Battle of Siffin.
CD-5: The Battle of Siffin (cont). The emergence of the Khawaarij. The assassination of Ali. The Khilafa of Al-Hassan Ibn Ali and Muawiah.
CD-6: Muawiah (cont). Yazeed Ibn Muawiah. The martyrdom of Al Hussein Ibn Ali and Abdullah Ibn Azzubair.

Good point akhi.
This is failing of a single individual and not the creed of the majority.
I had added a statement about his short flick with modernity and then turning away from that.
This should be hint enough for us to ignore his failings, particularly when he is no more.

This is a great lecture series. This is what made me realize the lies of the Shia and how the Jew, ibn saba succeeded in making Muslims fight against each other. I saw in another forum that there are perhaps one or two weak narrations mentioned in the lecture, other than that this is a SOLID lecture, highly recommended. We should know how Munafiqs and the people of fitna succeeded in making our beloved Sahaba fight against each other, and how they loved each other even though they were on two sides of the battlefield. The prophesies of our Prophet becoming a reality one by one, especially the one in which his beloved Grandson Hussain (ra) finally unites the two groups.

Wish I could post the mp3's of the audio, but the Maulana does not want it to be put on the net, says his seniors (Mufti palanpuri db and others) have dealt with the issue better than him so doesn't feel the need to put his bayans on the net, that is why I didn't name him I'll ask him again when I get the time, he is busy most of the time.

for the audio's, but I humbly request you to reserve your opinion on Deoband until you gain further knowledge, come on its just one book, just one book brother, brother Maripat has made a good point and I wouldn't like to add to it, except when it come to love of the Sahabah ra, J. I Joe's do not walk the talk and its the opposite when it comes to Deobandies, observe it for yourself. Whats that proverb? 'actions speak louder than words' stuff...

Also, the book I have is an english translation, a bad one at it, believe me there are many spelling mistakes in that book (which speaks volumes of the publishers / translators ability) I just feel to get a truer picture one has to read the original in Urdu.

Good point akhi.
