Question about multiple wives

I am Christian married to a Muslim & just wanted to know if Islam requires permission of first wife in order to take on second, etc. Or if he would at least have disclose the fact that he has another? Can a Muslim man take one in secret especially since I am not Muslim.

Sorry if I am in the wrong forum. Just seeking info.

I am married to a Muslim & know a lot about Islam. I admit I find in researching questions that there's never a direct answer. Usually a long explanation that doesn't address the question. I did not find a definite answer in the sites posted. I am not interested in it in becoming a Muslim, only to understand better what to expect & how to interact with my husband. As for faith reasons, I'm totally fulfilled in my relationship with Christ & see no reason to pursue another religion. Thank you.

Your question was answered in the first link.

"It is not compulsory for the husband to inform his parents or first wife of his second marriage but in the interests of fairness and respect it was necessary for him to do so. However, in spite of not doing so, the Nikah to the second wife was valid."

Salaam,

Why would you marry a Muslim if you are a sincere Christian?

FUNALA 01-21-2012 09:56 PM

I assume from your user name you are part of the ministry to muslims group, so I guess the only reason you would marry a muslim is because you want to convert him, if I believe you are married to a Muslim.
