Default Dogs in Islam
بسم الله و السلام ءـاـيكم,
I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm confused about this topic.

I understand that a lot of Muslims are under the impression that dogs aren't permitted to be kept as pets, or are even disliked in Islam, and I've heard one theory that the angels don't come into the house of a Muslim on Laylat ul-Bara'at if there is a dog inside.

However, I'm a vegan (I don't consume, wear or use any animal products) and I'm big on animal and environmental welfare, and in my little handbook, "Animal Free Shopper", I came across a link to this website - Islamic Concern. It delves into animals and Islam, and Islam and animal welfare, and such issues, and I came across this interesting page regarding dogs and Islam.

What do you all think? Opinions? And what's your personal opinions on animal welfare, and do you have any pets? (just for discussion's sake!)
