Alhamdulillah, after sunniforum, I don't have any need for other islamic forums. Which ones could compare anyway?

I'm going to be joining the turntoislam forum, I don't like this forum very much because I feel very censored. I'm Ahle Hadith, so I need a forum where I'm free to promote my view points.

i was thinking of joining Umma forum...basically I'm looking for a forum where I will have discussions about wider range of issues that are of interest to me. From Political Islam, Finance, Anthropology, Qur'an and everything else

I think sunni forum could be better but I always feel something is missing...InshaAllah i hope things will work out.

Ohh the fact that I cant sent a PM to a member till I have 200 posts was kinda lame. Unless i post my private e-mail in public...as I'm left with no choice

InshaAllah I just hope for the best

I used to visit Islamic section of a nigeria forum called nairaland, but the moderation is very bad and the Christians and atheists abuse the Muslims there often and nothing is done. So i only visit one or two threads. I don't even feel like opening other threads due to the abusive nature.

I like sunniforum, since the moderators does not let things go crazy. Which is what i like.

you don't need to feel censored. You are very much free to share your view politely. Exmaple you may refer to the post of bro.rqsnnt who is similar to you and has 1,360 post.

I didnt know that

The other day I needed some info on how I would go about my order of shipment of Qur'an from printing Complex in Madina

One of the brothers here was willing to help but obviously I had no means of contacting him in private as some info that he needed were confidential and addressed specifically to the management there and of course the only means of contacting him would have been through PM but looks like Sunni forum wouldn't allow me to do so

The there was a case of another brother who suffered sexual abuse and really needed some support and I wanted to contact him for some confidential info on the subject of course that wasnt possible as I dont have 200 posts yet!

I mean what if someone has an emergency or is in need of assistance but wouldn't post the info in public?

Its a think line....isnt it? leaving people exposed to post their private info in public as they are not allowed to have PM

Asalamwalaikum,
Well i joined recently myself. I did consider joining Ummah.com. I'm sure that website is good also. I prefer this forum though. The conversations appear indepth and there seem to be some very knowledgeable posters here. Most of the time, i'm not actually posting, i'm just reading the massive wealth of knowledge contained within old posts/threads.
I think if there are flaws in this forum. They are our flaws. If there are mistakes, they are our mistakes. I cannot expect this website to conform to what my nafs desires, especially if i haven't invested any time or effort myself into creating this site.
Alhumdullilah, even when i wasn't practicing this site was here. Even when i did nothing, this site was here. Even when i was doing other things, this site was here. And slowly but surely it was developing. So when i clicked on this site for the first time, it had half a million posts, and you know within those half a million posts, there are some incredible gems.

ps. I especially enjoy the fact that though in 'real life', i'm known as a knowledgeable guy, in matters of secular knowledge. Here I feel like a 4 year old in school for the first time. That is an incredible check on my nafs, it practically forces humility upon me.

Reminds me of the following Ayat in Suratul Yusuf:
We raise in degrees whom We will, but over every possessor of knowledge is one [more] knowing. (Yusuf:76)

No one is forced to use the premise of this forum. The moderators and members of this forum do attempt at utmost that every other members has a positive experience however as a goverance you are required to make decision that in the betterment of the entire community and not individuals.

In protecting the fundamental views of Islam and at the same time to minimise the need for monitoring the site has decided to censor certain activities i.e. loading pictures, restriction to brothers or sisters forum by the opposite gender, Private Messaging, etc.

If you feel the need to get in contact with other members then there are very simple steps you can take.

1. join a forum that allows private messaging and redirect members to join and connect with you there.
2. Join any one of the popular social networking sites i.e. twitter, Google+, etc and ask members to join you there.
3. Set up a free webspace on Google sites.google.com and just add a contact form.

Thus I do not see why there is any complaints on this matter at all really and why people in this social interaction era of the web find it difficult to contact others. We will not police what goes on other sites and do not intend to discourage the communication of other members amongst themselves however as a premise the real-estate of SunniForum has policies and guidelines that are required to be adhered to by all members including moderators of all levels. Nothing outside of those policies and guidelines will be enforced on any member whatsoever but we ask all to respect the ground rules that has been laid down.

I think that is enough for a rant in the month of Ramadhan , i think the hunger is getting to me

I am frequenting only this forum that too I'm thinking about leaving it, there's way too many posts per users which result in useless debates and sins. From my point of view SF is the least bad of all, but strict measures (like limiting number of posts per users, more moderators,...) are needed.
