I would say to a certain Degree even Young Muslim guys in Bangladesh especially in the Sylhet district (by the town area) are of similar nature, they dress as if they are "londoners" and hang about to see if they find potential spouses from abroad.

I remmeber the days wheni was young and i went BD where it was easy to spot a londer because of their dress - now Subhan-Allah it's hard to tell who is the londoner and who is the freshy.

As for the money thing - then it is the same situation in BD many families in BD await some money from their Relatvies from abroad (whetherit is from Saudi / UK/ America etc) - they act like they are knigs - i mean why not just give them money to start up something - like a good business or even make some of them study so they can become responsible people and earn a good living.

This is what we have done - my family never sent money (other than giving Zakat money / Fitr Money) for families to generally spend upon - rather our close relatives we have given money to start up businesses - even some for studying.

Gujarat or not, the situation in BD is defo like this.

When you spoon feed them that is the mistake.

Really Bad.
you have more or less described the Gujratis of my village and sorrounding. except that they dont want money to invest. they would rather leave a life of ease in gujrat and come work long hours in a bed factory in dewsbury.

I lived in New Delhi all my childhood, and you find all sorts of people everywhere.

Close to Nizamuddin, you have many poor people but very pious and righteous.

And you find more Hindu poor people, good and bad. So saying this about only the muslims of India is farfetched.

Mufti Zarwali in his Dawra Tafseer said along this line:

"When the christians left their religion, they found advancement

And when the Muslims left their religion, all they found was backwardness"

replace Gujaratis with Bengalis, replace gujarat with Sylhet (town more specifically), replace long hours with grave yard shifts and finally replace bed-factory with Restaurants : )

Wahh!

Lets see you report this as an offensive post.

No one wants to live in India. Even this immigrant who has suddenly alienated himself from his homeland. When he goes back it is as tough he is like a king has returned " like in the 3 hour" drama they are glued to the box and idols they worship. Even their children cannot fit into the system. Neither here nor there. ...and oooof!!! The attitude... pomp and show!!!
A serious problem and the elders there are burying their heads in the sand. Shame !!... really...!!

Our village in Gujrat is the same. They think money grows on trees in the UK when in fact the situation is very very tough. We had a relative who had somehow insisted that he could come to the UK marrying my sisters but my sisters were not keen and my parents are not the pushy types which I completely agree with. We then tried to arrange some visa for him due to his father's insistence who said he was willing to pay any amount of money. My father spent a long time going to various court hearings, solicitors etc but they rejected his application. The relatives thereafter refused to speak to my dad and family and forget about ever getting the money back. Many such stories. Many of these guys have such big houses and servants etc which we in the UK can only dream of. Most of the people in the UK have a huge mortgage to pay off (it is haram but this is the reality) so in reality they are in debt for their whole life. These very same relatives you try and get them on their own feet by giving them some farmland to grow something or invest some money with them and many of them will eat up the money. They mostly live on haram money like this. Also brother xs11xs is very right. Many of them will give up everything to come work in the UK. Some of our relatives are very rich but even then they would give up everything to work some crazy hours in the factory in london. My father was once upon a time what you could describe as an indian nationalist and would always rave on about india. In the last 10 years or so he has had many business dealings etc in India and he told me that he can't trust anybody. A guy sells us a house and because the value almost doubles within a short period he wants the house back and makes up many stories. His deal was that he had sold us the house but we had given him extra money to do some refurbishment etc. He does not do the refurbishment but keeps on asking for more money and he also wants us to sell him the house back at the same rate (even though the price has almost doubled). These are just some stories from the top of my head. However at the same time there is no doubt that these guys are denied opportunities and thus behave like this (though this cannot justify such behaviour)

Most indians don't really love India with all due respect. They take the first opportunity to get out of the country. The same is true of pakistanis. They rave on about their country but would be the first guys to get out.

bro.

The amount of shirk in India is really annoying. Too many temples and idols around.

I live in south india. i haven't been discriminated for being a Muslims till now, MashaAllah. It can happen in the future though. I hear things are worse in other parts of India. The problem of westernization is a reality here, its taking a lot of people away from deen. Do have lots of good Muslims also with moral values. I guess there is both good and bad in here. I don't like the concept of loving ones country. lol. The school system in India poison young minds with 'secularism', which is difficult to undo. But lots of the Muslims here support pakistan cricket team secretly just to feel the brotherhood.

In India not only muslims even non-muslims want to get out of india at first oppourtunity. That doesn't mean India is bad. They are also many muslims who don't want to leave India. It all depends on mentality which differs from person to person.

They are also people who want to return back to their homeland at first oppourtunity because of tough conditions. What about that?

Brother yes also non-muslims want to leave india that is why you see Indians everywhere and very few them or their children ever want to settle back in india. You are right it depends on the person and which areas they are from. I have noticed that the Muslims of hyderabad are the most happiest of indian muslims in many ways as they still enjoy the nawab lifestyle and they live as a majority in their region. However most of them will not want to return back to Hyderabad after coming to the UK/US and I'm talking from my own experience. There are a few who will want to return but not most of them. Brother hmdsalhudeen are you from hyderabad or which part of India? We, the Muslims of the UK who are immigrants from other countries feel that no place belongs to us. We are strangers in our countries of descent (e.g. india, pakistan) and we are not accepted in our own lands (UK, US etc). But glad tidings are for the ghurabah (strangers)

Also in my own opinion the south indians are way more tolerent than north indians. South indian non-muslims are not as racist as their northern counterparts. I have found south indians to be very decent people and more honest than their northern counterparts. However northern indians seem to be more religious. I have met many keralians but very few of them have a beard. It is very hard to tell who is a muslim or non-muslim in kerala. They seem to have integrated with the hindu population. In places like Gujrat there is a distinct line between muslim and non-muslim and many muslims are recognizable with their beards, topi and islamic attire.

Spot on. Its true.

I think the issue with beard and keralites is that its predominantlly Shafi'i in Kerala, and its taught here that shaving is Makhrooh (not Haraam) in accordance with a valid opinion in Shafi'i madhab (maybe not the majority opinion, but its a valid one) . Its also true they mingle easily with hindus and christians. Perhaps due to the less racism ifrom them.

Brother where are you from South India

Your neighbouring state bhai. Kerala.

@the getting out of India topic.

Its true many people want to get out of India. But for me i m too attached to the Family and friends here, and especially the common language part, so i can communicate easily. So i m not sure about getting out of here permanently. I dont feel like even going to another state, it is as good as another country. lol.

That post made me think about the temporary nature of our 'visit' to this earth.
