Maybe watch Islamic lecture videos on Youtube instead, especially loooong ones. it will help you, bro.

Suggestions: Musa Menk, Shayk Hassan Ali, Nouman Ali khan, Hamza Yusuf etc etc.

Men in extremely tight pants running around and tackling each other...

Does not seem like something a Muslim would want to watch.

- go to the mosque five times a day. prolong your stay
- read Qur'an more
- allocate considerable time during the day for dhikr
- do not read any articles, commentaries regarding nfl
- try to let go slowly not at once
- do not remb the times of matches.
- do not try to find free time so you can watch the match

you will soon find you wont have time to watch nfl in sha Allah

pray to Allah sincerely. He will help you in sha Allah

I cannot lie, I like to watch football games. I don't really have time to watch them, so I just watch highlights. I can't remember the last time I watched a full game. If there is an issue with cheerleaders I agree 100%, and there is no doubt that their are better things to do than watch football (but you can make this argument with almost anything). But other than that, what is wrong with watching football? Does the same issue with football apply to cricket/baseball/other sports?

build up your iman so that you only desire to learn the deen, take care of family, involve in dawah, charity etc. Basically, engulf yourself in islam and you wont care about football etc anymore

Just a quote from an article

ALL OVER A BALL?

It is necessary that we first consider the reality of modern-day sports? If one examines most modern-day sports, the sum total of these sports is that a person can either skillfully hit a fast moving ball with a bat, or catch it, chase after it or bowl it (cricket), or he can deftly kick a ball between two posts after having dribbled around some people (soccer), or strike a little rubber ball with much force against a wall (squash), or hit a little bigger ball with a racket with speed over a low net (tennis), or hit an even bigger ball with bare hands over a higher net (volley ball), or hit a small ball with a long iron over far distances and finally into a hole in the ground (golf), or grab an oblong ball and dash wildly across a field to place the ball behind a line (rugby), or other similar “skills” in various other sporting codes. The question to ponder over is the following: Are these “skills” of such a nature that intelligent, thinking people should be driven into a frenzy by them??? Is it really worth the while wasting hours watching somebody kicking, hitting, running behind, or throwing a ball??? Indeed, it is the kind of “skill” that can boast of being among the most unproductive and least beneficial to mankind at large. It can also boast of having ensnared most people to some extent despite being the least beneficial to them. More on sports from the Al-Haadi site can be read via THIS LINK.

Kick out the TV or computer or whatever medium you use for watching football.

If you get rid of the medium, then you will not be able to watch the matches . no matter how high your desire is.

there is no clear cut fatwa as far as i know that declares watching sports as haram. however those who say that it is wrong argue that a muslim shd occupy himself in more rewarding tasks such as ibaadat and dhikr and dawah. those who are not against it say that its just past time and nothing too serious.
but you will find that when in sha Allah you strive towards betterment in your deen and elevation of your rank in the eyes of Allah that you start to side with the former opinion. then, even if you have free time you will utilize it for ibaadat. did you know even resting so that you gain energy for the next ibaadat is in itself ibaadat?
strive to change your priorities and make dua and in sha Allah, your priorities will be changed by Allah (SWT).

Is hooting for the right phrase?
And do not worry, IA everything will be OK. (I'd broken away from cricket commentary in Radio days itself.)
And, of course, it will be better if we do not joke about Jama-at and Masha-ikh.
