We need an Authoritative source. For all we know, one news source has made up this story, and 500 more are repeating it.
We need an OFFICIAL press release from the SAUDI government. if they are giving 1 billion rial, then there will be a press release. If someone can find it in Arabic/English from an official Saudi government source. please let us know immediately. otherwise this is only rumour. |

Salam All,
On Monday night my uncle called from the Hijaz and stated he can see the moon himself, and my friend who is an arab from the Sham called abroad to get a confirmation of sightings (but not sure from where) and he came back to confirm news of sighting. So can we stop all the speculations! As for the article it will apeal to some people who followed their local mosques and fasted on Eid, but either way it sounds so spurious from an unknown source. Finally the calculations of moonsighting.com and any others mean nothing, specifically from the shari'ah point of view - and also from a certainty point of view as I have seen them make mistakes in the past. w/s |

I asked a friend in Riyadh if this news true he said it is false there is nothing from the Saudi Gov about doing Qadaa saum or paying fidyaa most of the news from outside the Kingdom and Allah knows Best. Much appreciated for informing us of this here. Its terrible that not only do we have fitnah before Eid, we also now have it after Eid. Edit: To all the 'guests' reading this. ITS A FALSE RUMOUR!!!! SAUDI GOVT DID NOT 'ADMIT' TO MAKING A MISTAKE! |
