Answer: For one who has already performed umrah, it is recommended that he enter Makkah in the state of ihram, to do otherwise is makruh. (Mughni al-Muhtaj 2/242; Tuhfat al-Muhtaj 4/70-71) Imam Nawawi stated, ومن قصد مكة لا لنسك استحب له أن يحرم بحج أو عمرة “And one who intends Makkah, not the rites of pilgrimage, it is recommended that he makes ihram for Hajj or Umrah.” (Ibid) There is a significant view transmitted in the Shafi’i School which states that it is obligatory. (Sharh al-Muhadhdhab 7/11) Therefore, it is highly recommended that one who intends to go to Makkah to visit a relative does enter with ihram, and makruh to do otherwise. We pray that Allah helps you in your journey and grants your mother ease and shifa’. Allah the Most High knows best. |
