When the brother accepted that fiqh should be followed trough a madhab, I suggested him to become Maliki because his wife and family in law are. Here in the Netherland are almost no 'ulema. A couple of students of knowledge, but only salafis. The 2 madhabs present are Hanafi and Maliki. If you could find a Turkish imam willing to teach Hanafi fiqh, you have to speak Turkisch, cause they don't speak any other language..

We have sheikh Said al Mokadmi here. A Dar ul Ulum (Bury) graduate. Also studied in Madrassah Sawlatiya (Makkah) and in Morocco. We are aranging him for lessons (he can teach Maliki and Hanafi fiqh), but the brother can not attent because of financial situation.

We also have sheikh al Bekkali (Maliki faqih from Morocco), but he speaks only Arabic and sheikh Jalal, but only Arabic also.

May Allah reward you for assisting the brother. I'm not doing anything besides asking questions on a forum, you are doing all the work here! May it be the reason you will enter Paradise insha'Allah!

Before I post Ibn Ashir, let me know how easily (or not) he understands the mathara lessons.


We have sheikh Said al Mokadmi here. A Dar ul Ulum (Bury) graduate. Also studied in Madrassah Sawlatiya (Makkah) and in Morocco. We are aranging him for lessons (he can teach Maliki and Hanafi fiqh), but the brother can not attent because of financial situation. Studying face to face is important; or request Sheikh Said al Mokadmi to be available to the brother thru phone or email; that will assist him a lot. Bury and Sawlatiya are reputed for their competence. So in shaa Allah he is a good 'aalim.

I spoke to the brother today and subhan'Allah he told me ''if only there was a Maliki teacher close to me, so I could ask him..''. You told me that there was the posibility for contact per email with a qualified Maliki teacher..?

Apologies for not replying earlier.
I am not as busy this week as I have been recently; I will in shaa Allah send you the link for Ibn Ashir's lessons if you allow me to request your contact.

About questions to a Maliki teacher...I am not 100% sure it's beneficial for him to follow the madhab...but I will leave that to you and him to help eachother in deciding; what other members have posted here about the availability of scholars is very pertinent.

Once I get your contact, I will in shaa Allah provide you a contact of someone who can assist thru email when the brother needs to ask questions.

I'm glad he has benefited from the Mathara lessons.
