Default Ruqya & T'aweez - The permissible and non-permissible
As salaam alaikum wa rahmatullah,

I have had some experience with some Raaqis/Aamils from differing backgrounds and differing school of thoughts.

I have found that the Salafi ones are unanimous that the usage of Jinns, Hisaab (using one's mother's name), numbers (as a substitute for Arabic), and all similar practises not found in the Qur'an and Sunnah to all be practises which constitute Kufr, Shirk or at the least Bid'ah.

What are the thoughts among the 'Ulama of Ahlus Sunnah and what are the proofs for using such methods which are alien to the Qur'an and Sunnah.

It's understandable that certain methods are labelled as haram and bid'ah, and in certain cases this is absolutely correct.

Why would it be shirk though?
