EDIT:
Me so silly. You mean the khilafah...

Hmmmm.... I'm not so good when posts require thought as opposed to googling.

It is given when Shaikh gets some feeling from Allah (SWT). Definitely not available as a service on demand.

السلام عليكم

He doesn't need to be a scholar but he must Recite and understand the Quran and follow the authentic Sunnah while accepting the various Muslim groups and Madhabs that exist and not favouring one over the others.

But were the Ottomans Quraysh, by stretching the definition? Or were they never really Caliphs?

Is it a condition for the Imam to be from Quraysh? - Shaykh al-Islam Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani - http://deoband.org/2010/07/general/p...-from-quraysh/

Just imagine if we were under the Khalifat of Abu Bakr As-sideeq or Umar Al-Farooq . SubhanAllah.
I m sure no one will dare debate on 'aqeeda' in front of Umar .

Salam Aleykum,

Thing is the people won't disagree on the Caliph if he was from Quraysh and if we could elect one from the Mouhajirun today it'd be even better since there is an agreement about their high virtue...

Although in Sahih Muslim and other books we find Hadiths such as these,

Book 020, Number 4475:
It has been narrated on the authority of Jabir b. 'Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: People are the followers of Quraish in good as well as evil (i. e. in the customs of Islamic as well as pre-Islamic times).

Book 020, Number 4476:
It has been narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: The Caliphate will remain among the Quraish even if only two persons are left (on the earth)

I personally think that if the Caliphate was given to an Indonesian, the Pakistanis and the Indians and the Malaysians ect... they will be jealous, heck they might even start to fight over it and might start overthrowing eachother, they are definitely no better than the Ansars... I believe it is best that the Caliphate be with a pure Qurashy Arab from Ahlul-Bayt.

That's just a personal opinion as I said and I claim no consensus on this matter or anything else... just worth considering that's all.

'Umar (ra) was amazing really, we need a moderator like 'Umar to ban all the "Nature of God" debates.

100% backing from me. We don't realize how low in knowledge we are. It not just to be humble, But seriously imagine how dumb we are to even think that we have atleast the slightest knowledge to discuss such Matter.

Shukran for posting these, brother.

What would be the logic/reasoning in keeping the khalifah a Quraishi? This seems like tribalism to me, though I admit I am ill informed on the subject of qualifications for a khalifah. Why should the leadership not be given on merit alone?

I wanted to know what are the qualifications of an Imam or a Khalifa according to the Quran?

Who should we follow as an Imam or a Khalifa?

This question can answer many of the muslim brothers who say that a particular person was an Imam or a Khalifa.

In that i know the basic things like he should not be a disbeliever, he should follow prophet's sunnah, he should not run away from the battlefields,etc...

I want a list by which we can judge a Khalifa.(whether he was rightly chosen or not) This way both sunnis an shias can come to a conclusion who are the rightly guided khalifas!!!

Thanks in advance for the reply.
