Dear Brothers & Sisters,
Brothers & Sisters, lets face the fact, many Muslims across America are eating foods that they are not 100% sure its halal. I thought there should be an app to tell us which foods are halal or haram. Suppose you wanted to eat a donut from Dunkin' Donuts, you enter the shop and are baffled on which donuts are halal. Thus, I was thinking of making an app about halal & haram foods.
My idea was to make an app that you could search the stores name then search which item you need (ex. Donuts).Then, the app will tell you which ones are halal and haram.

Mashallah with the will of ﷲ we have a software developer, Yuu, a designer,786ridz, and our data base provided by rasheedahmed.
May ﷲ bless them and give thier reward in the this world and the next! Ameen!!!! Say Ameen!

i just started this past weekend with android programming. my java skills aren't too strong yet but its "c++-like" so its not too difficult. i can help but seeing as i have a full time job, am a grad student, and have side projects i am already working it, i cannot take the bulk of the development here.

There's a halal food apps for blackberry if you check it out. I have one from Guidedways.com

Since most major phone has internet, I tend to have muslimconsumergroup.com as one of the homepage. You can have the general list of ingredients.

However it is important to check with Ulama' because there are ikhtilaf in many things, especially Hanafi vs. Shafi'i in terms of non-khamr alcohol, cheese, non-fish seafood, kosher, etc. so you can't make general blanket of halalness of the thing.

I didn't knew there was an app in the blackberry, i serached but didn't get it.
Alfatiha im going to make it like color coded (ex.green=100%halal yellow=(and then give reason ex.fried with chicken) im also planning on writing if the product is kosher or not....
I've decided on making a android app because it will be easier and cheaper

MCG has almost 10000 database of 31 US supermarkets coast to coast for food products, fast food chains, medicine, skin care, shampoos etc and 4000-5000 for 8 supermarkets in Canada. Our Halal status is based on our criteria which is published on our both websites. Someone was working on it but quit. MCG is a nonprofit organization and has income from selling Halal food books and Halal certification. We are looking for some to use our database for App and but it should be owned by MCG. We will pay the services to have app developed for MCG. We are not decided how much we charge for application usage so that we can get back our money and have some income. We do not accept donations from Muslims. Our websites are free for all Muslims. We need honest person to work on this project because we have problem before on developing website even paying money in thousands. Since we have very narrow field only in food products and non food products, alhumdulillah 1100-1200 people visit daily our website worldwide and it is logged in 112 countries according to AW Stat.
