This is what the article says about her marriage:
"This is not the time for me to be thinking about relationships with men, either. I’m recovering from the breakdown of my marriage and am now going through a divorce.

So I’m not looking and am under no pressure to look.

If, when the time came, I did consider remarrying then, in accordance with my adopted faith, the husband would need to be Muslim."

Wives can get up and take the shahada if they are married to a man of another faith. Delay in acceptiing faith is dangerous. Inshallah, we'll soon see another press conference where her husband will declare his faith.

I know this is off-topic, but if the wife takes shahada and then the husband does not convert, must she then divorce him??

If the husband or the wife accepts Islam and the other partner does not accept, their nikah will be annulled. It will not be permissible for them to live as husband and wife.

I have heard this enough, but have never actually read it......for modern cases......say the husband is a non-practicing muslim?

Assalamoualaikoum

There's a difference between a non practicing muslim and a non muslim

And Allah knows best

I don't think this is accurate.

If the husband embraces Islam and his wife is Christian or Jew, their marriage stands valid and they don't need to re-marry, as far as I know.

What you say it true, a Muslim male can marry a Christian or a Jew, however I had the threads scenario in mind and I was generalising.

Forgive me, but the question innocently arose within the "conversation" of this thread, and others were KIND enough to address it. They were short posts...nothing to get any hair up about- - -

I've seen much worse deviations from the immediate subjects on hand on sunniforum.....or maybe this was a "brothers only" and I had no idea???

I would never say, by the way, whether I will take a Sunni or a Shia path. For me, there is one Islam and one Allah. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...#ixzz14AiBBAXL

abulayl ..... i am just curious about your statement "shia filth" what filth are you referring to if you dont mind me asking?

and for the comment about shia only praying 3 times, shia actually pray 5 times a day but they have the option to combine them as did the prophet muhammad pbuh.

i think that it is wonderful that she has converted alhamdulillah she is a muslim has taken her shahada, inshallah she will be a fasting woman, a praying woman, a woman who gives zakat and visits haj, inshallah she becomes a pious woman and may god bless her. regardless of whether she is a shia muslim, or a sunni muslim.

shia islam is beautiful, and if you actually take the time to educate your selves (as it is prescribed by Allah swt for us to always gain knowledge) you will find that their ways are very credible.

i also saw a comment about how the name Ali is not in the quran on an earlier thread. to this person i would just like to say that the quran does not name the sahaba to be caliphat either, so this does not prove nor disprove anything.

what happen to us following the ways of rasool allah? he was so pleasant and had no ignorance towards any other religion of faith, if we are so in love with our deen, why are we not following all examples of our beloved prophet? rather than picking and choosing what we want to remember? and leaving a trail of ignorance behind.

Peace,

Shia is a deviant sect of Islaam according to the majority scholars of Ahle Sunnah wal Jamaa (who constitute roughly 85% + of muslims past and present.) I have to agree that we should not describe them as 'Shia filth' as not all of the Shia minority have kufr beliefs (depending on the sect they may follow within the Shia school.) The Zaidi school is closest to Sunni but still deviant none the less.

Shia a sect of hate, revenge, blood and emotion.

We don't consider Abubakr (ra) or Umar (ra) to be 'infallables' or 'divinely appointed leaders' etc. but Ali (ra) is a 'divinely appointed infallable' leader, and he is praised and mentioned by the shia more than the Prophet (saw), so why in the Quran his name is not mentioned? Why not his infallablity? Why not his Caliphate? Imamate? These are beliefs that the shia sect is based on but they can't prove them from the Quran. They can't prove the foundation of their sect.
