"Islamville", a few queries - Mujahid Abdullah u are needed

i'm interested in a community in America called "Islamville" i looked it up on wiki and am curious abt a couple of things.

Br. Mujahid Abdullah would probably be able to answer my questions.

my queries are...

1. is it associated with the "muslims of the americas" and is this larger organization an authentic (representative of sunni) organization and did it have a role in the death of rashad khalifa (lanatullahi alayh).

2. is it an authentic sufi community (i.e. no music but focusing on dhikr, ishsan, salah, halal income)?

3. why is it accused of being a terrorist training camp...have controversial shaykhs/mujahideen figures visited it?

4. is it a predominantly African American revert community? are other communities (i.e. immigrants) involved in it aswell?

5. what is their stance on issues like building large tombs for saints...do they disagree and say that building tombs is haram or are they for it?

6. what is their relationship like with the zaytuna guys (Hamza yusuf and co.) or deobandies (darul uloom madania and others)?

7. what exactly do the shapes on their banner (the red and green ones) mean/represent?

can anyone answer these questions? anyone?

from what i know they seem to be pretty much the same as barelwis

they use daff in their nasheeds, some of them are not the open ended daff that some have allowed, their women sing nasheeds in public

majority of the community seem to be black but their leader is pakistani

i wonder if the black guys understand urdu as they seem to sing a lot of nasheeds in urdu?

i am also interested in knowing their views on ashoorah and what they do during this time in muharram?

Answers:
1. We have no affiliation with jamat al fuqara - we have no association with James Williams, or other people involved in illegal criminal activities.

2. Yes - We are Qadri in tariqah, Hanafi in fiqh, Ashari in Aqeedah - no musical instruments, no dancing, no weirdo sufi stuff

3. Because we are upholding the sunnah of Rasoolullah http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ilies/pbuh.gif - because we have villages established for years where Sharia is the law of the land. Those who accuse us are nobodies - the US govt has removed us from the DoD terrorism watchlist - we invite them to come and visit our communities - we have full transperancy, and they are aware of our posiions and our mission in America, the land of our birth.

4. Our Jamat is predominateley African American, but not exclusicley - I am blonde haired blued eyed white boy for example and their is a also a large group of korean converts to strangely. The for the large population of African Americans is because it the late 70's early 80's our Sheikh came to the US, and his original mission was to teach the NOI about true Islam - when he got here he found a group of Muslims who blonged to what was called "the Dar movement" - these Muslims were basicly gangster Muslims who were trying to be sunnis, but were ver misguided and held some strange beleifs. Our Sheikh taught the sunni Islam and introduced them to tassawuf. These original followers were almost all African American or Puerto Rican - and they in turn had many many many kids (many of the elders have upwards of 20 - 40 children, no exageration). Thus many members of MOA are the off spring of those elders. by the 90's the racial divide in the US had disapeared and more and more people of varying heritages came to embrace Islam, like myself.

5. We dont build large tombs - each village has a graveyard, and many of the people in the graves are Walis, and they have indescript earth graves with no structures (we need to bulid better house for those who are alive, the dead dont need houses)

6. When we were in California, myself included, we used to hold joint functions with them, many of our children went their schools, overall we have had a good relationship with them, and still do.

7. This image is not uniquie to us - it is used for contemplation on the name of Allah, used various awrad - it is commonly seen amongst Qadris of the Sarwari order from the silsillah of Hz. Sultan Bahu.

We are neither barlawi, nor deobandi - I have personally been called both wahabi by baralwis and barlawi by deobandis - our Sheikh, to my knowledge, never speaks about the dived, and Ive never seen him reference or speak about either Ashraf Ali thanwi or Ahmed Radha khan. We are aligned more with Sheikh Nuh, the Habib, and Sheikh Ninowy.

We do celebrate Ahura, we commemorate the martyrdom of Hz. Hussein http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ilies/anhu.gif - we are not shia, one reason we do this is because the shia have hijacked this day as theirs, when in reality, we sunnis are the true lovers of Ahli Bayt.

Many of the brothers do speak Urdhu, many more speak Arabic

As far as I know, the only people that accuse them are those wackos at Fox News. They do it because they need a bogeyman and there's not really a better potential-bogeyman in the U.S.

i dont know a whole lot about them but the brother above doesnt know much about darul islam, to simply dismiss them as a gangster movement. a good book to read is "the dar ul islam movement: an american odyssey revisited" by shaikh mahmoud andrade ibrahim al amreeki

i know some old heads from nyc and newark nj and they talk about how they had izzah and respect in their areas until two groups hit them: the salafis, and these guys.

im personally turned off by the veneration they do of their shaikh gilani and their flag waving. then again, all i know of them is what the old ny/nj folks told me and their youtube channel.

Is your Shaikh trained in Sharia? Also, where do members of your tariqah go for learning shariah? A Deobandi Madrasa, a Brelwi one, or something else?

i liked your responses to most of the questions Br. Mujahid Abdullah. with regards to the this darul islam thing...wherever there are two muslims there will be opposing interests and politics....so im not too concerned with that.

we had a similar program in the darul uloom i used to attend, basically the night before we had to fast the story of the emancipation of Bani Israel from firaun was told (by relating the ayats), one teacher mentioned breifly the tragedy undergone by the ahlul bayt at karbala, some other things were mentioned as well. the martydom of either or both Uthman and Umar took place then i believe. so the month has a lot of significance for muslims aside from the karbala tragedy.

The Sheikh is trained in Sharia - he follows the sharia, and commands us to do the same. For those of us who go and train in the various sciences, he outsources that - some have gone to Egypt (Im not sure where), some have gone to Hadramawt, the Qaris and some of the Muftis have trained there in Lahore. I couldnt tell you what they were, they may have been baralwi, deobandi or neither (Im assuming that if you live in Pakistan, there may be people who dont neatley fit into Deo, barlwi, or Ahlhadeeth)
