Dear Members Assalmualikum WB,

Deciding on a name for newborns is an exciting activity and all families who are blessed with the pleasure of having a child go through this exercise.

In this regard I would request the ulama on this forum to please guide us as to what are 'aadaab' of selecting a name for the child. Also, it would be very helpful if other sources for this are suggested as well.

Basically, my queries regarding the naming is:

1. What are the criteria of good names?
2. Among the relatives, who has the final authority on deciding the names?
