Hadhrat Shaykh Sayyad Mahmood Padherwi, senior khalifah of Shaykh ul Islam Sayyad Hussain Ahmad Madani, has departed from this world today before jummah prayers. Janazah salah will be in Deoband after Magrib today.

Hadhrat was aged 90 and resided in Deoband. He was a close associate of Shaykh Asad Madani and managed all his correspondance from mureeds around the world.

Hadhrat Shaykh Mahmood had resided in Deoband for the past 20 odd years so the shaykh you met may have been someone else.
