Assorted Questions
Assalamu Alaikum,
Hope all of you are well and taking advantage of the sacred month of Muharram. Just a few questions: 1) Hypothetically: When my parents will pass away (and if I am still alive), my uncles and aunts will want to hold ''challisha'' and other bidatti activities e.g. having a milad gathering after 3 days, 40 days and feeding people. Unfortunately, I may have no choice but to join in (I can't boycott these events since it involves my own parents!). Is there anything you would suggest I could do? Wassalam wa Jazakumullah Khair |
Salaam all
Really ancient thread - But does anyone have suggestions re: Question No. 1 above? |
is it biddah o celebrate chaliswa? Even if they dont serve food.
Do u hve any other islmic person n ur family.. You'l hve supprt then. Tell ur parents to write tht in their wills |
As far as I understand, it is a bid'ah.
Jazaki Allah Khair for your advice. The only way is if I speak to my parents and convince them. If it's included in the wills, even their brothers and sisters (my aunts and uncles) won't dare to go against it inshaAllah. |
akhi you shafi right. have you ever found a shafi' scholar against maulid. have you ever found a scholar that said that feeding people is haraam.
what is a challisha? |
Salaam Bro
It's been discussed here: http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...ghlight=khatam Basically has roots in hindu culture. Just as an example - as per Shaykh Ramadan al Bouti - it's a reprehensible bid'ah! |
it cant have roots in hindu culture if you find it in remote villagers in Arabia, Africa & SE Asia. I have sat with great ulama who gather for a anual khatam. some of those ulama are seen as the top shafi' ulama of our time.
what does sheikh Bouti say? what is chalisha exactly. |
