Tenure of Beloved Prophet s.a.w in Mecca and Madinah

I wish to know how long and when all did the prophet stay in Mecca and Madinah since birth to his death (visaal) and if any other city he had spend any substantial time.

From memory (therefore open to correction) the Prophet http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/pbuh.gif lived in Makkah for 50 years. At the age of 40 he was bestowed with the Office of Nubuwwat and he preached in Makkah for 10 years. Following this he moved to Madinah and lived there for 13 years after which he http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/pbuh.gif passed away. As far as I know other than his travels due to Ghazawaat, Hajj and Umrah to different places where he encamped he always returned back to Madinah. He had made Madinah his home. After the conquest of Makkah the Ansar http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/anhum.gif were extremely despondent thinking that Rasulullah http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/pbuh.gif would now remain at his birthplace. However, he http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/pbuh.gif assuaged them and reassured them that his home was in Madinah.

I needed some more detailed inputs regarding his travels due to Ghazawaat, Hajj and Umrah to different places where he encamped he always returned back to Madinah.

I understand that the complete quran was revealed in either Mecca or Madinah becoz we say that so and so is Makki or Madni Surah, this will help me understand which surah was revealed during which stay of the prophet.

When the prophet s.a.w and abu Bakr r.z were hiding in the cave there was an aayat of surah bakarah revealed in which Allah assures them that he is with them. Was that aayat in Meccan or Madni or some place between them . How does one classify this ?

Again from memory - As I remember just because certain aayaat of a surah were revealed in different places it will not negate the Makki or Madni classification of the surah. A Makki surah means that its revelation started before hijrah and a Madni surah means its revelation started after Hijrah. Therefore, a verse that was revealed at the Conquest of Makkah is still calssed as Madni as it happened after Hijrah.

There is a detailed explanation of this very same question in Mufti Muhammad Shafi'is Ma'aariful Quraan Volume 1. It is after the Introduction on Pg 8 of the edition that I have.

I now wish to know if the aayats of any surah were revealed in the same order as it is preserved today.

To be precise what I wish to know is... Pseudo example: Can Surah Bakarah have the first 10 aayat revealed after the last 10 aayats of that Surah yet when compiled they stand visa-versa ?

I am not talking about different Surahs but I am asking about different Aayats within a Surah?

This is absolutely possible in the Qur'aan that a later revealed verse is compiled in such a way that it is placed earlier than verses that were revealed before it. As soon as a verse, Surah or a set of aayaat were revealed the Prophet http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/pbuh.gif would instruct one of his scribes and say, "Place this verse (or these verses) in the surah where such and such is mentioned" (Sunan at Tirmidhi no 3086).

Also Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Abbas states that the last verse that was revealed to Rasulullah http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/pbuh.gif was "wattaqoo yawman turjaoona feehi ilal allah" and Ibn Abbas http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/anhu.gif said regarding this, "This was the last verse revealed to the Prophet. The Archangel Jibraaeel descended on him and instructed him to place it after verse 280 of Surah al Baqarah (al Intisar of Imam Baqillaanee)."
