Deobandi Shaykh Husain Ahmad Madani on Stamp Paper !!

Asslamulaikum,

Today morning I was pleased to read the newspaper; to see that the Republic of India has issued a new "Postal Stamp" having Shaykh-ul-Hind Maulana Husain Ahmad Madani.

In my memory this has been the second presense of Deoband on the Postal Stamps, earlier the picture of the institute "Darul-uloom-Deoband India" was issued by the Government.

I am a bit undecided - we do not promote pictures of our elders. So this is an anti-news in a sense.
May be we should seek some answers from Deoband.

It is a stamp and from a normal distance the man in the stamp cannot be identified, according to ulema that is valid.

My local Aalim. normally I ask for rulings from ulema who give fatwa of permissible or non-permissible. Not from ulema who think of highest taqwa while giving ruling.

I have followed a simple advice from your elders. Look for taqwa when it is for yourselves, look for permissible when it is in others.

And in practical life I have seen brothers collapsing, these brothers were hardcore in looking for taqwa in others because they were on taqwaa
(why pant below a jubba, why not lungi, why not pajama, why a perforated topi, why a belt in your pant, what about your collar, why no miswak, watching you coming late in fajr etc.). But circumstances changed when they were put to hardships they collapsed and they have to run for cover. Many of them stopped visiting the masjid itself. Because they have to face the people whom they had pricked.

Secondly this type of behavior made things easy for the salafees.

Fix a stamp on paper of a letter size. keep at a distance of 3 to 4 feet. Not on computer.
And I shall not unnecessary make a photograph of a stamp size. That is for me.

the pic i posted is a scan of the stamp and is a normal stamp size. due to it being a scan there will have been some loss of quality. yet it can clearly be seen.

3 to 4 feet distance would not be normal distance viewing for the stamp. stamps, as you said, are usually on an envelope, and the normal viewing distance of an envelope is when its in your hands, which would make it a normal viewing distance of 0.5 to 1 foot.

even the scanned reproduction can be comfortably seen at a distance of 1 foot. a real stamp would be even easier to see at a distance of 1 foot.

I repeat, Do the exercise of fixing a stamp on paper then let us come back. There is difference between scan and a real stamp.

the difference is deterioration of quality. the actual stamp would be even more clear and easier to see.

When a coin or paper currency falls from your pocket while you are praying salah, it does not invalidate your salah. Because, if you are standing and the currency is on the ground; with that distance the face is not very much visible.

what has this got to do with the stamp?

ZESINTERS 09-02-2012 11:28 PM

Shaikhul Islam Hazrat Moulana Husain Ahmad Madani (Rahmatullahi Alaih)

“I never ever had my photo taken knowingly and voluntarily. That takes place when I am unaware, and I do not consider it permissible. Those who do that [i.e. take other peoples’ pictures] are responsible for their actions.”

(Ma’aarif wa Haqaaiq, 380)
