![]() Welcome to Reaching out to the Left. Arguably the biggest threat facing the entire Muslim Ummah (all sects included) is secularism. Many Muslims have been misled in the name of modernism, free speech and thought. This threat is unique as it has the backing of the secular, atheist (and theist) non-muslims who see Islam as the basic threat to their western values. The politics comes afterwards but this is the basic problem they have with us. Just like in the past modernism destroyed the Jewish conservative ideology, atheism defeated Christianity and the Muslims were thrown out of Spain and their Caliphate destroyed in the previous century, the focus of this global movement are now unguarded Muslims the world over. Using tactics such as evidentialism to show Science as superior to Religion, biased liberal media to portray extremism as equivalent to fundamentalism, severing the connection of the scholars from the layman, export of western education (Macaulayism),funding their mouth-pieces among other things, this global movement is at work destroying Islam as we speak. We cannot lose. For if we do thousands of lives will be condemned in both this world and the real one of the Hereafter. The onus is on us to help out in any way we can and reach out to the liberal modern muslims. In my research over this area I have found that these secular Muslims do not have basic knowledge of Islam yet feel they have the right to give opinion over everything. It is our duty to reach out to them in every way we can and share the gift of Islam. Not only secular Muslims, this movement can be utilized to reach out non-Muslims as well so they can benefit from Islam too. This movement is inspired by many things. It is only in its infancy. I would like to thank brother umar_italy and ustaaz Maripat for their wonderful ideas and inspiration. This movement takes its resources from scholars of Islam, and at times knowledgeable brothers and sisters but the emphasis is on referenced and planned articles that hit the jugular. Many of the ideas that are to tackled can be found here. Your main nemesis can be found here. Read up a little and make up your mind about what should be done about them. We are already losing on several fronts. Here is a harsh reminder (please read at your own risk!) of what we have to lose. Secularism has been declared the greatest danger facing Islam by many prominent scholars such as Sheikh Hamza Yusuf and Sheikh Nuh Keller. Here is a list of articles to be covered so far: The reason why US forces were allowed to burn copies of the Qur'an in Afghanistan, Feb 19 2012. Answering Secularism I: The respect of Muslim scholars and the importance of chain of narrators, March 19 2012. An 'educated' princess' uneducated opinions Lal Masjid Operation: A factual analysis of its background, the operation itself and the aftermath Answering Secularism II: Absolute or restricted freedom of thought? Answering Secularism III: The punishment for Apostasy and slandering the Prophet (PBUH) in Islam (The case of Salman Taseer) Answering Secularism IV: "But Ghamidi says..." Answering Secularism V: The Muslim state and Shariah Law Answering Secularism VI: The Rights of Non-Muslims in a Muslim State and Society Answering Secularism VII: The Qadianis and their rights Answering Secularism VIII: A critique on the Rejectors of Hadith Miracles of Islam I: The Salah (Prayer) Miracles of Islam II: The Human Being Answering Secularism IX: A critique of modernist 'scholars' (Pervez Hoodbhoy) The Chronicles of Indo-Pak Islam: The Crow, The Halwa and the Left Answering Secularism X: The difference between Muslim Da'wah and the Christian Missionaries Answering Secularism XI: Answering Nadeem F. Paracha and his friends Answering Secularism XII: "I do not believe in Rituals of Islam" Answering Secularism XIII: The Atheists and their denunciation of their own existence Answering Secularism XIV: The ex-Muslims and their critical analysis Miracles of Islam III: The Qur'an Miracles of Islam IV: "Zam zam" water Miracles of Islam V: Day, Night, Life, Death and the full circle Answering Secularism XV: Jamat-i-Islami and others and the fallacious nature of their claims to actual Islam Answering Secularism XVI: The Media exposed Answering Secularism XVII: What happens to non-Muslims after they die? What happens to Muslims? Answering Secularism XVII: Music Breaking the secular idols I: Capitalism and Marxism Breaking the secular idols II: Freedom of speech and thought Breaking the secular idols III: The United States of America and the western values Breaking the secular idols IV: Feminism Breaking the secular idols V: World Peace Answering Secularism XIX: The reason for the wars that have been fought over the history of mankind.Religion, Power or Nationalism? Answering Secularism XX: A critique of modernist 'scholars' (Rachid Ghannouchi) Answering Secularism XXI: Why the Muslim sects? Answering Secularism XXII: Why is there a ban and punishment on Homosexuality in Islam and more to come soon. The basic structure of the arguments posed by this blog follows this pattern: - refute the human abilities of rationalization and expose the limits of intellect at the outset. - provide evidence from islamic texts with an attempt at rationalization and extensive use of analogy - refute the subject's modernistic and unislamic evidence using a combination of common sense, islamic texts ,analogy and rationalization - finish with references to further reading of works of great scholars. Important thing to note: the articles posted stay away from sectarianism and conflicts (either peripheral or serious) within the ummah. you will notice no article directly attempts to discredit barelvis, deobandis, salafis, shias etc. If modernism prevails there will be no practising muslim left in any sect and religion will be hard to follow. think of your future generations. start writing your own blog. or email us your contribution to reachingout2theleft at gmail along with your sunniforum username. follow us on Facebook and twitter @reachingout2daleft. This is a great list in OP.
Keep up the good work. Dr Zakir Naik has said at several places that there are some twenty questions only that detractors of Islam keep hurling back and forth. If we memorize answers to them then we are done. Hope SF serves as a source for preparing such dayees who shall memorize these answers here. And blogging is of course a defense against the new issues that mischief mongers keep raising. Barakallah. Wassalam |

Very insightful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AX8ck7jjtU Also there is a talk of his on the Dajjal and the new world order, it will give you a different perspective on modernism and how it is moulding into a Dajjali system. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zr8l6nCUjHw. |

yes.i would like some books/lectures outlining the human rights charter given by islam, rights of non-muslims in a muslim country, rights of zindeeq in a muslim country,a detailed study on the prohibition of interest and usury and the permissiveness of the Islamic banking in pakistan (only a few days ago i was made aware that mufti taqi uthmani's endorsement of islamic banking is basically halal riba. i had no solid answer) and some basics or advanced study of chain of transmittors (how the saheeh sitta and other islamic texts make their way through to us without error). i hope you realize why i am asking. |

For the Islamic charter for the things of modern interest I shall recommend Professor Muhammed Hamidullah (of Paris)'s book The Life and Works of Prophet of Islam. Just recently the Urdu translation of its latest edition was published in Pakistan. For economics related questions I think you should first understand what Mufti Taqi Usmani Sahab (DB) says. And please just ignore the critics - take them as enemies of Islam. I know a famous Islamic economist and I can not tell you little he inspires me.

Not everyone who criticises Mufti Taqi Usmani is the enemy of Islam...they might be on the truth and the Mufti might be wrong. My understanding is that the Mufti allows Islamic Banking intending to make it a step towards true halal...for he admits that it is not really halal now. So his intentions are noble, however the criticisers are saying this is not a step towards halal rather it is a step towards subverting the halal and making the haram into acceptable or 'Islamic'. |

Secularism is underpinned by one basic view, that the world is not governed by a God, that men make their own rules and that we humans can achieve everlasting peace, success and freedom in this world.
Yet this is a big lie and only intellectually lazy people will believe in this foolishness today. Secularism have given us two major world wars, a cold war and numerous other genocides around the world. Men cannot govern nor can they make up their own laws because man is not only selfish but also powerless when he becomes separated from the divine power. Even if many clever men were to get together to try to come up with a brilliant plan and law, they would fail miserably because they cannot see and control everything and if they try to who wants to live in a world like that? Where a tiny minority and their minions watch you all the time and tell you how to live. Their claims of freedom lead to slavery. Pay your taxes, pay interest on your debts, work twice as hard for less pay...keep voting for the same lying and cheating politicians hoping things will change. They will not. |

Clearly his detractors are misrepresenting him. For instance in the time of the sahaba a type of selling included the seller informing the buyer the cost price of the product being sold, plus any transport and other costs incurred including the mark up or profit margin. The buyer could then decide to either buy or to refrain. The above sunnah way has been converted today into the Islamic Bank practice of the borrower selecting a house to buy, the bank agreeing to buy it on their behalf, and then re-selling the house to the borrower at a much higher price. These are 2 contracts in 1, and such practices are not allowed. The bank buying it at a lower price and selling at a higher price on credit is not 1 contract it is 2, and this has very little resemblance to the practice by the sahaba. Is it halal, no, but Islamic bankers are selling it as 'halal'. What should Muslims do? If they refuse to join in, they lose their wealth to bankers anyway. Maybe we should refuse to play by their rules and reject the whole fiat money banking system. We should get together and build our own halal economic way with real gold and silver currency. We should be able to do it if we get together and talk about it, spread the knowledge and do something about it. |
