Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 47: FORBIDDANCE TO BUILD MOSQUES ON THE GRAVES AND DECORATING THEM WITH PICTURES AND FORBIDDANCE TO USE THE GRAVES AS MOSQUES Bk 4, Number 1076: 'A'isha reported: Umm Habiba and Umm Salama made a mention before the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) of a church which they had seen in Abyssinia and which had pictures in it. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: When a pious person amongst them (among the religious groups) dies they build a place of worship on his grave, and then decorate it with such pictures. They would be the worst of creatures on the Day of judgment in the sight of Allah. |

![]() I did not say that it is the most important thing but it indeed is an important thing to do. There is no space for shrines and grave worshiping in Islam and such acts only reveal the mental staleness of the Ummah that we are defending graves. To me , the whole idea of building shrines is alien to Islam and human rational. Shrines do attract people so why build a shrine to begin with? I am of the opinion that all the graves should be respectfully leveled so that no Mushrik can visit them even if they he intends to do so. Have a look at the graveyard of the scholars of deoband. You won't find any shrines or gatherings or Urs there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_jLns7xDmg And watch this one 1:00 onwards , its the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Pakistan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Naekfxx9uPc |
