Non Muslim: "I eat pig".
Muslim: "Why? Pigs eat anything including excrement (!)". Non Muslim: "Cooked properly all the germs disappear". Muslim: "Can you be sure? Some pig meats aren't cooked completely and are eaten?" Non Muslim: "Hmmm.... ". Is this debate a win for the Muslim or can the non Muslim bring a sound point up? |

[To be honest, I would get annoyed if someone came to me and started debating with me about my food choices. Careful not to annoy when trying to educate. Unless the person comes to you asking about it, I wouldn't start debating about the harms of pork.
Besides, the come-back I've heard to the first point you've made is: "so what, chickens eat theirs too."] |

The ''debate'' wouldn't go like this.. @Acacia I would only be sincerely trying to point out to a pig eater that it does eat its own filth. (A Christian can be very sincere in his religion - but you can be sincerely "wrong" too). Maybe it depends on the person - if I was Christian and someone was informing me pig is dirty - I would be interested in his arguments. Not offended in the slightest. Chicken may eat its own filth too but its digestive system cleans all the germs out unlike the pig? This "Christian" Tele-evangelist says pig's digestive system doesn't clean out all the germs and appears to be advocating Muslims have a point not eating pig. http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...-eat-pig-again I posted this at the end of July with no replies. |

Re: the link to Abdal Hakim Murad's video:
With due respect to the Shaykh who is million times more knowledgeable than me: beef and chicken being dodgy to eat is only "presently, right now" - pig has always had those worms etc in it. I can't believe a born Muslim can ever be tested to eat pig (or haraam meat such as non Islamically slaughtered beef, lamb, chicken). A Muslim is going to ignore the pig aisle in the supermarket! In an Islamic meat shop there's not going to be any pig as it is? It might be more of a test for him to refrain from eating some tasty bacon as he's a revert. "Allah's creatures are all pure..." The Qur'an states pig is impure? It's a shame he can't post to these comments on his talk. |

![]() I agree with Acacia. It is not a good approach to tell disbelievers how or what to eat. It is far better to explain why YOU don't eat pork if they ask you why. In that case, we should look at what pigs are. They are omnivores. They eat flora and fauna. Pigs eat almost any kind of plant, root, grain. When given the chance, they also eat small animals, like ground fowl, reptiles, rodents, and carrion: the carcasses, flesh and bones of dead animals. Pigs are even known to eat human corpses. Pigs also eat waste and garbage. In that sense, just as we are forbidden to eat animals with fangs, hence animals that eat other animals, we are forbidden to eat animals that eat dead animals and dead flesh, like pigs. There are many disbelievers who love pigs- they have them as pets. But besides the matter of worms, pigs have similiar physiology and anatomy as humans. This has resulted in diseases and viruses being passed between the two, such as swine flu, bronchitis, pneumonia, also trichinosis, Taenia solium, cysticercosis, and brucellosis. Pigs are also known to host large concentrations of parasitic ascarid worms in their digestive tract. Those who are in close proximity to pigs are more inclined to catch such diseases as a result. As well, where pigs are introduced to new environments, they are highly destructive. Feral pigs are known to destroy entire ecosystems, even contributing to species going extinct, such as the Dodo bird. They eat ground fowl eggs and young, reptiles and most amphibians, even rodents. They also eat roots, nuts and seeds, and flowers. And where they have no natural predators - which is most everywhere as apex predators are being killed off- feral pigs reproduce quickly with litters of 5 usually twice a year, grow to large sizes and are aggressive. The cross species immunological effects cannot be ignored. A pig can catch a cold or flu from a human, and vice versa. |

As well, feral pigs are known to be "disease vectors" - they allow diesases and parasites to thrive and spread them about. Here are two new parasites found in feral pigs in Texas and the Carolinas in 2009: Toxoplasma gondii and Trichinella. And feral pigs apparently spread these parasites to farmed pigs as well.
People would most likely be infected by eating parasite-ridden meat. Once transmitted, both parasitic species can invade muscle tissue and organs and cause flulike symptoms, DePerno said. More than 60 million men, women, and children in the U.S. already carry the Toxoplasma parasite, but very few show symptoms, because a healthy immune system usually keeps the disease in check. Toxoplasmosis—the disease caused by T. gondii—is a leading cause of death due to foodborne illness in the United States, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The organism is especially toxic to pregnant women and those with weak immune systems. Trichinella infections can also range from mild to severe, with the worst cases causing potentially fatal heart and breathing problems, according to the CDC. Even in moderate cases, fatigue, weakness, and diarrhea can last for months. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...health-nation/ So the adverse health effects are actually spreading in America. |

FYI pigs and Brain Worms
"We've got a lot more of cases of this in the United States now," said Raymond Kuhn, professor of biology and an expert on parasites at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. "Upwards of 20 percent of neurology offices in California have seen it." The pork tapeworm has plagued people for thousands of years. The parasite, known as cysticercosis, lives in pork tissue, and is likely the reason why Jewish and Muslim dietary laws ban pork. Kuhn said whether you get a tapeworm in the intestine, or a worm burrowing into your brain can depend on how you consumed the parasite. http://abcnews.go.com/Health/PainMan...1#.UCys_qvwa3U |

FYI pigs and Brain Worm @Usama2 By telling the disbeliever why you don't eat pig implies that he shouldn't be eating pig either because of the hygiene issue? He will reply but if you cook it properly it's fine - it was back then when pig couldn't be preserved properly, etc and to why Jews and Muslims don't eat it? |

But if you watch the video by the Shaykh (which Acacia and Starting_anew like) the point is made that pig is not forbidden because of the worm? and my previous post, it's just some info about brain worms and check this out too Worms in cooked Pork Meat |

Eat pork and you grow distant from Allah, drink alcohol and the same.
Non Muslims will not care because they do not know that they want to be close to Allah...invite them to Allah first...then once they accept this the rest just falls into place without any argument. Because pigs are greedy, lazy they eat and eat and eat, then they roll in the mud and sleep and they are supposed to be very sexual if humans eat the meat they may become prone to those types of behaviour. Re: the link to Abdal Hakim Murad's video: Alhumdullilah it is through our self-control, through refusing to follow our initial base instincts that we start rising up. Our tests come in different ways. Look at the jews of Israel, they grow pigs in large quantitites. Because, their love of the money pig farming brings, exceeds their love of Allah swt .. these are all tests.. http://www.thejc.com/lifestyle/food/...t-a-pork-habit |
