Default Newbie here with Maltitol issues....
Hi All...I started the New Atkins diet (induction) on the 24th of Feb at 116 kg (255.2 pounds) and I am now 107.4kg (236.3 pounds) I have a long way to go but I know but every loss is getting me closer to m goal
My weight loss was slow and steady at the start then I had a few days where I was not losing anything.
Luckily I keep a food diary and the times when I stopped losing was the times when I had the sugar/carb free lollies and sugar free red bull.
The common ingredient in them was Maltitol and poly (something sorry cant remember the name of the long one)
So in short they were taking me out of ketosis.
Once I realised this i was tripple checking the food lists on everything.
My ketone sticks were never the dark purple always the second darkest which I thought was ok. I was loosing around 0.5 kg every second day which I was happy with for sure (except for when I had eaten the sugar/carb free lollies etc)
I was also having an Atkins Breakfast bar every day, and sometiems an Atkins snack bar in the afternoon as we are aloud 2 a day on induction.
Once I learnt that they too have maltitol in them, I stopped them and have since been dark purple on the ketone stick and lost 3kg in 4 days.
Has anyone else found this with the Atkins bars or am I just super senstive to Maltitol??
I am too scared to order any low carb producs online as I dont understand what might next throw me out of ketosis so is there anything else that I should be looking for in the ingredients to avoid?? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I look forward to learning and sharing on the forum.
