Default Advice Needed Please
Hello everyone, I am very new to this and was hoping I could get alot of help from those of you who have this down pat. I have been watching what I eat and exercising now for about a month with no real results, so I decieded to go low carb. I have a good idea what that means. My questions are what are the rules? are there different stages? Anything eles I may be over looking. I would appreciate all the help I can get. I have tried everything under the sun but cant seem to stick to anything due to sheer hunger and or no results. I have been on a diet for about 7 years lol and have managed to gain about 10lbs

The best advice is to get one of the Atkins books -- They describe the program, what to eat, the transitions from one stage/phase to the next. This is a life long process. Spending some time reading the book (it is a quick read) and determining what you have to do. Although I have not read much of the info on-line for Atkins ( here and www.atkins.com ), it should cover the same things.

You can also start prepping for LC. My personal prep was disposing of my carbs -- donating to food banks, a last hurrah or two, and getting ready to shop for LC dieting. I also started cutting out carbs -- not the level of the diet, but a start in that direction.

Another thing that was very successful for me was to develop a menu/meal plan for the entire week and going shopping for all the items. It is helpful to plan what you are going to eat and stick to the plan.

My advice is to pick one of the low carb diets... Atkins, Protein Power, Sugar Busters, even South Beach. Get the lastest book published and read it cover to cover. UNDERSTAND how and why low carb diets work. Get a good carb counter book or locate some online resources. Once you understand HOW... prepare yourself and your kitchen. The first few days are the hardest as your body depletes its store of glucose and glycogen... and before your body is forced to produce a necessary enzyme for using ketones for energy. Don't try to exercise the first week or so. Focus on getting enough water... the right kinds/amount of carbohydrates... and do NOT worry about your fat intake at this stage.

Read read read. Ask questions. UNDERSTAND.

Finally... go for it.

Sorry I took so long to respond. I am decompressing after just about three weeks of being in charge of a houseful of relatives. Loved it but seemed like I was always thinking of food! I will elaborate on my progress thread when I get a chance. Okay, the websites that are great inspirations are
http://www.carbsmart.com/low-carb-su...my-dungan.html

http://www.dietdoctor.com/lchf

And two MUST watches

and if you have streaming Netflix, watch Fathead.
Oh yes, I also subscribe to this blog

These are the sites that have given me the tools to learn live this way for the rest of my life.
