Typical teenager. You ask for advice, and when it's given, you respond as above. Here is a tip kiddo, don't want to be treated as a child. Don't act like one.
Being a bit harsh there aren't ya?

That age is awkward.

Sometimes the truth hurts. If you ask for advice, you should listen. People are very quick to go on the defensive, and Tash was just being helpful.

Well, I was trying, at least. But it looks like I didn't do too well.

For the record, though, I never insinuated that the OP would fall victim to pedophilia b/c this thread was posted...I simply stated that there are nefarious people out there. And THAT statement wasn't even addressed to the OP. *shrugs*

I'm glad I've always had a mom that I could approach about personal things...all kids should be so lucky.

Any self respecting kid of 15 would get an erection from looking at a Nun.

I'm with Allen on this one.

I reckon you should all give your dads a ring and discuss erections, since it's so advisable. Should be easy since you're all adults and with presumbley normally functioning penises.

Sure, I ring home all the time for that sort of thing http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/rolleyes.gif In a perfect world yeah, all teenagers would be totally unembarrassed by bodily functions and there'd be no awkwardness whatsoever in talking to your parents about the weird things happening to your own body.

All I know is, when I was 15 there was no way in hell I would have asked my parents something so specific and sexual.

As for the paedophiles - well, what can you do? If there's really someone out there who gets off to reading about some guy asking how he can stop getting so many erections, that's a pretty specific fetish. God forbid anyone under the age of 18 ask for advice on the internet in case the perverts are watching.

Seriously, I'd rather teens could get helpful advice than worry about the sexually unusual minority who might be reading it for kicks.

MortgFinsJohnQ 11-26-2011 07:52 PM

*smh* I guess I'm lucky that I grew up in the household I did. If I ever planned on having kids, I would certainly hope they would come to me rather than seek out advice from strangers on the internet. Then again, I took the initiative and went to my nephew when I found out he was having sex and asked him if he had condoms or if he needed me to buy him some. Whatever small discomfort I felt was miniscule compared to the prospect of an unwanted teenage pregnancy or sexually transmitted disease, IMO.

Anyway, not that I don't enjoy being played as much as the rest of you guys, but it sounds like the OP has plenty of conflicting and confusing advice to help him through these troubled times.

i know that when i was 15 there was NO way i could talk to my parents about sex. hell i never even had the "birds and bees" talk and my mom said very little when i started my period.

i am very naive when it comes to things so i can understand where tash is coming from. this is the internet and we never really know who is on the other side of the screen. that being said, teens are more likely now a days to go online to find answers to their questions or problems.

janeemljr 11-26-2011 08:04 PM

I just think that's really really sad. I'm glad I have a mom I can go to about things like that.

you are VERY lucky! today i can talk to my mom about anything but i could not when i was 15

my parents wouldn't share and when I was a teen talking with them about anything was nearly impossible. so I developed the attitude of not sharing my inner gut feelings about things with them. it wasn't until recently mom apologized for her distance during those years. I felt relief when she did this and promised that I wouldn't be that way with my child(ren) when we have kids.
