Planned Interruption: could someone please describe it?

Could someone please explain what exactly a planned interruption is and when you do it and how do you do it? I have run out of supplies and am still waiting for them to arrive in the mail (hopefully tomorrow). I do not do well when I am truely hungry and _know_ I will not be able to stick to the VLC w/o hHCG in my system. So far I am doing ok and on protocol, but if the patches don't get here tomorrow I need to know the best way to handle food during this (un)planned interruption.

Also, I have a friend coming to visit for a few days this week and planned on sticking to protocol as closely as I can, but was wanting to do some watermelon on the 4th. How bad is watermelon at this point?

TIA

I've done several successful planned interruptions. I stopped taking the hcg for 72 hours while continuing the VLCD. After 72 hours, I started eating P3-style, which for me is no sugar/no starch, and quite a lot of calories with lots of fat, protein and non-starchy vegetables. You can stay in a planned interruption for up to 2 weeks before resuming the VLCD. You just start the hcg and the diet again, with no need to reload. You can have watermelon on an interruption. But you shouldn't take an interruption until you've had at least 20 effective treatment days.

Here's how Dr. Simeons explains it in the section of P&I entitled "Unforeseen Interruptions of Treatment":

If an interruption of treatment lasting more than four days is necessary, the patient must increase his diet to at least 800 Calories by adding meat, eggs, cheese, and milk to his diet after the third day, as otherwise he will find himself so hungry and weak that he is unable to go about his usual occupation. If the interval lasts less than two weeks the patient can directly resume injections and the 500-Calorie diet, but if the interruption lasts longer he must again eat normally until he has had his third injection.

Thanks, exactly what I needed to know. I have been on protocol 28 days. I figured I would follow P3 as much as possible and get back to P2 asap. When you restart, do you give yourself 72 hours before going VLC?

No - you do not load when restarting after a planned interruption. Just start the HCG and the VLCD on the same day.

Good Luck!

What everyone else said. http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png I did a planned interruption for two weeks while on vacation. Started out eating P3 and did great, no gains, but then ate everything and anything and gained 5 lbs in a week. My usual vacation weight gain. Ugh. But I lost it fast when I started back on HCG post vacation.

As for watermelon, it's obviously not protocol, but I ate some on Saturday and Sunday this weekend and still had a 1 lb loss on the scales this morning. So while it might not work for you, it didn't keep me from losing. I didn't go crazy, had perhaps two cups of watermelon on saturday and one cup on sunday. used that as my fruits for that day.

Watch out for the corn, it's full of fructose! :-)

Sounds like you are going to have a BBQ, I would stick to the protein, no buns, (lots of people eat that way these days, so people probably won't even notice... Be careful though, most "regular" burgers have TONNES of fat in them. Hopefully there will be some grilled chicken breasts? Lettuce salad is good, no dressing of course. You could always pack your own food in a little lunch cooler too and stick with protocol!!! It sounds like you're not really doing a planned interruption, which would take you off protocol, if you really don't want to cheat that is!

If you really want to do a planned interruption, see above for the instructions, but I think you are too late if you dosed today... http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/frown.png

Good luck!

An interruption is for a minimum of 4 days. You can find information about it in P&I in the section entitled, "Unforeseen Interruptions of Treatment". You'll need to stop hcg 72 hours before the interruption (or hhcg 48 hours before), then eat P3-style during the interruption (lots of fat, protein, non-starchy veg with no sugar and no starch).
