I had my band loosened a little before I started so that I could load and then I kept it that way so that I could get my protein down. I do have trouble occassionally, but as long as I'm careful and chew really good, it usually goes down. Sometimes I'll have cottage cheese in place of the meat if I feel like I shouldn't attempt meat.
Good luck on your journey! Lapband+HCG is a great combo! |

Wow! I can't believe there is someone else out there like me- and I've only just started HCG, after 2 years of struggling on the band. It has been really hard work for me with a band already- I'm on day two after doing the two days of loading. Getting the protein down is very very hard, and I'm taking up to an hour to finish the salad and meat
![]() ![]() ![]() So, needless to say I'm motivated and will be keeping on with the HCG, as it is clearly working for me. The band has meant almost no hunger, on top of the drops, so I reckon it must be a winning combo ![]() |

I had lapband surgery in Feb 2005. I lost 150 lbs (from 322 to 170) in 17 months. After being morbidly obese all of my life I thought that was fantastic. I had surgery to remove excess skin over the course of 18 months. Slowly started gaining a bit back. My band just does not work like it did the first year or so.
Summer of 2010, I found hcg. I'd crept back up to 230 lbs and dieted here and there. My metabolism was shot. To lose weight, I'd have to eat under 750 cals a day and exercise like crazy. Then I'd be lucky to lose a pound a week. Over 3 rounds of hcg, I lost 85 lbs down to low range for a normal bmi and 19.1% bodyfat. The lapband people keep asking me what I did. Best of all my metabolism reset. After just my first round, I could eat 1600 to 1800 cals a day and maintain my weight. |

Wow, Beth- that is absolutely inspiring and very encouraging!!!!
This is exactly the sort of thing I want to know- and it will definitely help me to stay focussed. I am on day 3 of Phase two (I hope I'm using the right 'phase' when I say that- the 500 cal a day phase) and I am super-fatigued and sleep a lot. I'm hoping that goes away soon- any thoughts from you guys? |

I had band Jan 07. Lost 100lbs. I have put back on around 25 after 3 major surgeries this past year. Today was my first load day kinda tough eating enough. My worry is all the water that has to be drank. I find it easy to eat 700 cals but have been eating junk lately just easier when laid up. One thing to the banders who can't eat protien and are eating slippy stuff. You are too tight. You should have NO issues consuming protiens. You will never loose with the and if you are eating soft foods. Go get a bit of an unfill and you will see a world of difference. Good luck to all. Geri.

So I'm on day 17 of phase 2. The last couple of days have been losses of .2
![]() I think i will do another round of 25 days to lose around 15 lbs. I'm already in the normal bmi (24.2) and just want to get my fat into the normal range. I'm going to try the patches next time as it would be nice to not have to manage between the drops and waiting to eat or drink etc etc. I was banded in Dec 2010and just wanted to finish my journey. My lap band Dr will probably wonder what the he'll I did lol. |

Wow! I can't believe I am not the only one! I swear I think I wrote some of your posts! I was banded February 2007 and lost 40lbs. I have kept it off but can't lose any more. I think someone else said the tighter they made me the less I lost. I was eating slider foods that didn't make me vomit. I never got the sweet spot. Right now I have 4ccs in a 10cc band.
I started the hCG diet last week. 2 days of loading (hard with a band) and almost 6 days on vlcd. I have to say this is super hard but do worth it. The results have been great so far. My only problem has been today. I got very hungry at lunch and ate too fast. I couldn't finish all my chicken or veggies. Then tonight for dinner I was only able to eat a tiny portion but I still felt like I was hungry. I didn't eat anymore because I knew it was enough. I waited 30 minutes and drank about 16oz of tea. A few minutes later, I vomited it all up. So what do you do in a situation like that? Normally I would go on liquids for a day but we don't really have that many liquid options on hCG. Anyone else been there? I would love to know what every one is eating! What do your lunch and dinner look like? Leslie |

Dear Lbelf304,
I am a fellow lap-bander X 2. In 2004 I had an allergan band put in but had trouble with it in 2009, lots of vomiting. Major slippage. Had the new J&J SAGB VC put in 2010, WOW! what a difference. I have never vomited yet, wonder what will happen with a bad case of the flu? I am starting the HCG diet this week, waiting for my shots to be delivered. I am a nurse, so I have been doing tons of research. The reason for going on the diet is secondary to that evil drug, "Cymbalta". I am off it now but the weight came on fast and furious. I have put much thought into how to handle the lap band with the fibrous meat and vegs. I will start with warm tea, that always helps me. I have learned to eat my meals colder, I take my time with eating and walk away from my food(and I mean walk, it helps it I get up from the table and walk around the house till I burp. My surgeon taught me that one). It can take up to an hour to eat a meal. The oranges and grapefruits will give me a hard time, since all food with skin give me trouble. I will section both fruits and peel my apples. I may have to peel asparagus down by the ends. I don't think I will go too crazy with the loading. I haven't eaten bread products in years, my only weakness is cookies, so homemade cookies and coffee will be my two day weakness. Things like burgers, fries and ribs have never gone down since the first lap band. Hope your diet is working for you, let me know how it is going. Jan |

Thank you for starting this string. I've had a lap band since 2005. I lost 70 pounds on it in the first year. Kept it off for several years, but gained 30 pounds back when I changed jobs.
My mom, sisters and I started hcg together yesterday. Our diet plan is silent on fat loading, so I wasn't concerned about the band from that perspective. However, I'm definitely struggling to eat red meat. I haven't had any issues with my band until this restricted diet. I have eaten both normal food and slippery "bad" foods. I was wondering if the top part of my stomache may have stretched due to my bad eating habits and is now back to what it should be with the restricted calories. My plan is to stick with egg whites, chicken and fish with an occasional filet to squeeze in some red meat. Like other people on this string, I am struggling with being tired and not hungry. Thank you for confirming that this is "normal". I'm hoping this will go away after a few days. |
