Can eating less than 500 calories cause less weight loss?

Just curious.
For some reason, yesterday and today, I am just not really hungry in the morning. (Monday was my first VLCD and today is Wed)

So yesterday I ended up with about 400 calories for the day. I am very big so thought I would lose a couple of pounds each day for the first few days. I dropped 1.6 this morning which I know is not bad, but just curious if I might lose a bit more this first week by eating closer to the 500 calories?

If so, I will up my food by 100 calories from now on http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...es/biggrin.png

Oh, I ran a lot of errands yesterday so did not drink nearly as much water as the day before, so that could be the reason...now that I think about it LOL

Still would like to know about the calories http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png

It's actually really important to get that 500 calories in. I've found that a bit more than 500 is WAY better than less.
The days I was low on calories, I tended to either lose less or not at all!
Also, water, water, water. LOL I had to get in at least 80 oz, or I stalled.

Hi Sherri,
I, too, had a very hard time in R1 and R2 getting all my food in. There were days I was just not hungry, and (especially in R2) there were days when I thought I'd rather eat a pile of dirt than eat another bite of P2 food. Now I am in the midst of R3 and I have taken a new approach to P2 foods by making my meals interesting by cooking and making recipes rather than eating pre-cooked pucks of meat like I had done the last 2 rounds. I am eating all my calories this round, and find my losses have been almost identical through my rounds. So, in answer to your question, I don't think it matters if you don't eat everything...especially if you are not hungry. Just also remember that Dr. Simeons himself said in Pounds and Inches that anything can be omitted. Good luck!

Hi,
Yes, normally I have always carried water with me everywhere...not sure how I ended up leaving the house without it yesterday. Rarely does that happen http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...es/biggrin.png It won't happen again for certain!

I really did not try to eat less, it just worked out that way...it was as if, in order to get the calories in I would need to eat when not really hungry. Interesting. I can feel that there is nothing in my stomach, but I don't feel like eating LOL On the other hand, the food tastes so good when you are not eating all the time http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...es/biggrin.png
Thank you!

Hi,
It looks like you had great losses! Were they 23 day rounds or 40 day rounds?

I know I should not worry about 5 lbs loss in 2 days, I am just beginning LOL But it just feels as though there will be days I am not as hungry. I should get more active and see how that helps http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...es/biggrin.png

Thank you!

I have read a TON of places that the answer, if you up your calories, is more veggies. I eat WAY more than the recommended amount of veggies daily. I've lost 40.3 pounds! So it's working! (I also mix veggies. Daily.)

Indessasp 04-18-2012 10:18 PM

Yep, I will have to up my veggies for sure http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...es/biggrin.png

I must admit, they are limited for my taste LOL. I know I will miss broccoli and cauliflower the most. Fresh crisp green beans, summer squash etc.

Have not quite figured out how to have the veggies on the list yet, but I will get there. I do not want to use salad dressing (can't think of any that would be ok anyway LOL) and as wonderful as green smoothies are....I *will* want to actually chew some at some point http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...es/biggrin.png
Thank you and CONGRATULATIONS on the 40.3lb loss! How many days was it to do that?

Protocol states that it is ok to NOT eat all of your food. I lost way more on days I only ate 200 or 300 calories. I wouldn't force myself to eat. I cut out the apples and breadsticks and lost much more that way. Overall I am down 55 pounds after round 1.

juyrett 04-19-2012 03:04 AM

Hi http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png

I planned to re-read the protocol again...read it a couple of times so far, but I best read it a few more LOL

Thank you for that, I will not worry about it any longer...as long as I never go over! It is easy to be careful with the calorie sheet of acceptable foods and my kitchen scale http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...es/biggrin.png

Get a steamer basket- I use mine daily! (I also have green beans and cauliflower... And occasionally broccoli).
I lost 28 pounds my first 43 day round and have last 12 in this round! http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png

Qzmsdoem 04-19-2012 02:08 PM

I LOVE my steamer! LOL
It is old and they do not make them any longer so I really baby it http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...es/biggrin.png When not doing HCG I steam veggies to put into my Vita Mix to make purees etc. Especially cauliflower; it has been my mashed potatoe substitute for years and the thing I will likely have first when in p3 http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...es/biggrin.png

I am afraid to go off protocol (for me) since I have so much to lose......I want as much gone in the first 40 days as possible. Then I am going to cycle (HCG cycle, not biking) from p3 back to p2 and broccoli and cauliflower will be my first haves! LOL

Way to go on the 28# loss! Happy to hear this round is going fantastic as well! Today will be day 4 of the VLCD and I am down a total of 7#'s so far. Hope it keeps up, but I am prepared for the slow days and will just keep going!

Thank you!
