Default Is Whey Protein Suitable for the HCG Diet? Has anyone lost losing it?
Hello. I am looking for a Protein Powder for this diet. Because of my budget, I was only able to buy a $20, 2lb tub of EAS 100% Whey Protein Powder from Walmart. I am unsure if Whey protein is suitable for this Diet.

Here is the info per scoop:

130 Calories
25 Calories from Fat
3g Carbs
1g Saturated Fat
1g Sugars
23g Protein

Ingredients: Whey Protein Concentrate, Soy Lecithin, Natural and Artificial Flavors,
Whey PRotein Isolate, Acesulfame Potassium and Sucralose

Can anyone tell me if this seems okay to use on HCG diet? Please help, I start the diet in a few days.

Thanks.

I use it, and I've lost 11.4lbs in 7 days. It depends, if you're sensitive to whey it can stall you. Pay attention to the scale.

Although not purely protocol, I supplemented some of my P2 days with hemp protein (just hemp and fiber, NO sugar added). This helped on the days when I either needed a bit more protein or a change. In P3, I've been having some whey protein shakes either when I'm on the road or for a snack at home. Just be careful and watch for gains. I started on Jay Robb (expensive!), and switched to Body Fortress (usually about $15 at W-Mart, but scored a few on clearance for $11/2# tub). They mix easily and taste fine (which is totally personal preference, of course ). I don't know if it helped me lose, but it certainly has not made me gain, if that makes sense... Good luck!

HelloMedina. Thanks for this info and nice loss. I am on VLCD3 and have not used mine yet. I am trying not to change things so much too soon.

Hey Polecat, and thanks for responding. I totally get what you mean. How long have you been on this diet? Thanks.

I use and love J Robb whey protein on P2 with a little ice, truvia and a few strawberries in a blender. It isn't protocol but some people can get away with it. Be careful!

i also found some whey that i love. Tera's Whey made in Wisconsin. i m pretty sure it works on the diet but i would love some feet back.

he most natural ingredients like organic, hormone-free cow, goat, & sheep whey proteins.

All natural flavors. high antioxidant superfruits. low glycemic stevia.

The best tasting, simple ingredients ethically sourced from small family farms, artisanal cheesemakers, fair trade suppliers.

Whey that transforms your health (and that of those you love).

Made in a green factory that touches the planet lightly.

tera'swhey puts the power to cause extraordinary change back where it belongs:
in your hands.

- All of our ingredients are sourced from sustainable family dairy farms and from stewards of endangered ecosystems around the world.

- 20 grams of protein per serving - the recommended serving by MDs and nutritionists for people with health and recovery issues as well as for optimal post-excercise recovery.

- 4 grams of carbohydrates from fruit and low glycemic stevia means your blood sugar will not spike.

- Made with superfruits known for their extremely high antioxidents and the best tasting vanilla and chocolate on the planet - the same kind that French pastry chefs demand. As a result, all of our products are not only good for you, but they also taste incredible.

let me know you thoughts
Are you in P2 or P3?

I found ENERGYFirst on line. It is sweetened with Stevia, has 20g protein, 90 cal/serving (25g scoop), 0 from fat/sat fat, 1g sugar (possible from the whey) 3g carbs per scoop. I found the best taste with 30g (1 heeping scoop) 2g extra stevia and 3/4 cup water. I include it as part of my 500 cal count. comes out at 100 cal per serving. it's $39 plus $5 shipping but makes 40 servings (2# tub)

I've used 2 different protein shakes with no problems. The Jay Robb egg white (way too sweet for me) vanilla shake and the triple chocolate Jillian Michaels whey protein. From the too I like the JM shake much better, it's not sickly sweet and is easier for me to digest. I lose fine on either of them.

I just tried my first Whey Protein Powder for the first time last night. It was a packet of Jay Robbs Whey Protein Chocolate. I put it in 1 cup of water. It was very, very delicious at first taste. But then seconds later there was this terrible aftertaste that was horrible. I will have to try something else. I was down 1 pound this morning.

Those of you who take or have taken Protein Powders, what do you eat on the days you have Protein Powder?

I just eat normal the rest of the day, swap the protein for whatever meat I would have eaten at that meal. Usually I do them at dinner time so instead of a steak or burger I have a protein drink, sometimes I'll still have my melba toast, sometimes I skip it. Most have a bad aftertaste, though to me JRobbs is really bad. I just chug them and then drink a bottle of water to wash my mouth out.

It is much better to take the Vanilla Jay Robb and add chocolate. The chocolate has a weird taste but the vanilla is yummy!

That surprises me that someone thinks that -- I think the chocolate tastes good but the vanilla is gross (even with chocolate added to it) HAHA! Guess we're all different and we need to decide for ourselves what flavors we like.

Yes, I know. It's like our taste buds taste differently. I check out reviews a lot, and I will find a product that some claim that there is no taste or is delicious, others will say its horrible, and then others will say it has only a little bit of taste.
So with the Jay Robb Powder I looked at the reviews for this chocolate flavor. Only 1 person left a negative, and complained about the taste(there were a few more people who commented on the review stating they felt the same). So what I try and do is find someone who feels the same way about the taste of a product that I do and if they recommend something that is better or yummy (such as MissyMom suggestion), check it out. I assume their taste buds are similar to mine (only regarding that particular product though). Just an odd theory. LOL.

But I agree with you Von, we just have to try them for ourselves.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was at Whole Foods and put back the Vanilla and got Chocolate instead.
What about Strawberry. I thought I saw that one too.

But like poobears, I may just have to chug them down. They probably all will have some sort of funny taste to me.

Well, anyway. I am trying to find one that is not loaded with calories.

I am currently on P3 and went through my chocolate Jay Robb shake rather quickly. I love protein shakes!!! I am a long time user of golden whey. I wish JR shakes were not that expensive. For P3, week 3/ I am back on golden whey. I added a couple of drops of stevia with the vanilla ice cream and it tastes just like Jay Robb ...to me.

I use Provide Gold Protein, they come in either a 30oz bottle and you take individual 'shots' of 1oz or they come in individual little bottles. I don't know if you had already received this info. but thought I would add it just in case. I am in R1P3 and still utilizing them and still loosing wieght. I am down 38.5 lbs. I only did 28 days on mt R1P3 because of the wieght loss but could have easily kept going. Excited about my next round.

I use Body Fortress 100% Whey Protein powder and LOVE IT.
I normally use it to replace 1 or both meals for the day and lose at least 1-2#/day when I do.

I use MSM 100% whey vanilla - same ingredients as Jay Robb at a fraction of the price.

I mix it in about 4oz of cold water in the am and add it to my coffee as a creamer/sweetner....every day.

The one you listed has two things I stay away from - Soy Lecithin and Sucralose.

I use it, and I've lost 11.4lbs in 7 days. It depends, if you're sensitive to whey it can stall you. Pay attention to the scale.
