Default My Goal for This Year
I decided today that my goal for this year is going to be to participate in a 5K every month. I've got the one for January under my belt and I'm sending off my registration for my February 5K tomorrow. I've already picked out my March 5K and I've got eyes on one for April as well.

My eventual goal is to hopefully be able to participate in a half-marathon in December to cap off the year. If things go as planned by the end of the year I will have walked/run almost 50 miles just by participating in runs.

Soooooooooooooo...go me!!! LOL

***Edited to add my 5K list and times***

5Ks Completed So Far:
January - Museum of Aviation Marathon/Half-Marathon/5K Time: 56:20
February - Sweetheart Run for Sight 5K/12K Time: 51:42
March - Rhythm Run 5K Time: 54:56 (slowed down to walk w/ my mom who placed 2nd in her age category)
April - Battle of Byron 5K Time: 49 minutes and some odd seconds ("Official" time is 63:26, placed 3rd in my age category)
May - Warrior Dash Time: 64:26
June - Georgia Peach Festival 5K Time: 54:05
July - Jog for Johnny 5K Time: 56:00 (Unknown "official" time)
August - Race for Education 5K/10.2K Time: 54:17
September - Warrior Dash Time: 95:20 (Ooh lord...almost didn't finish)
October - S.C.A.R.E. 5K Time: 52:37 (placed 3rd in my age category)
November - Ocmulgee 5K Time: 55:40
December - Jingle Bell Jog 5K Time: 50:23

That's great setting goals can really do wonders for you.

I used to run but hurt my knee although I'm planning to start again this summer.

You're a better person than I am in respects to being diligent about your resolution. I don't think I could stick to my guns doing something like that. I'd get worn out.

It's all about knowing how far I've come and how badly I NEVER want to go back to that. Looking at old pictures keeps me from giving up on my goals. Remembering how bad my back would hurt after standing for an hour...or how badly my feet would swell after walking a mile...or how I'd get winded just tying my shoes...all THAT is what keeps me going.

April 5K done!!! We were 13 minutes late starting the race b/c I got stopped (and ticketed) for speeding. Even so, the turnout was so small due to predicted severe weather which never materialized, and I placed 3rd in my age group. I set a personal record w/ a time of 49 minutes and some odd seconds (unknown EXACT time b/c of the late start) even though my OFFICIAL race time shows 63 minutes and 26 seconds. Yay for placing!!! Oh, and mom placed 2nd in her age group.
