Default Different VLCD with HCG???
So my question is, has anyone tried, or read any study or data about taking HCG with a VLCD, but not "the" diet. Ie eating some different food than on protocol. I have different diatary needs (plus I'm SO picky) and have deciced there is no way I can do the outlined diet, I started yesterday doing basically phase 3 foods, but only 500 calories. I lost 1 lb this morning. I'm interested to see what happens..... If it doesn't work, guess I'll stop. Any info someone has would be great.

I will also say I did HCG once before, and loved it, stuck to the diet, not problems, but it was "real" HCG with injections. This time I am doing hhcg, I'm on day 7 today, on day 5 I couldn't do it anymore. I felt like CRAP, I was grouchy, felt sick, decided it was not worth it. I decided to do what I'm doing, eat like phase 3 things, but tiny portions and I INSTANTLY felt better.

pink- there are a lot of bad hhcg products out there- that might be the difference for you. let me know how you do- it's an interesting idea. most will say that not eating fat is the key, but that's also a problem for some- moi, included. i get more depressed without fat in my diet. i'm trying all kinds of things this time, including eating coconut oil.

probably the safest thing would be to stick to lean meats, low-carb veggies and fruits, and use CO as your only fat. but people have tried all kinds of things- variations have worked for some, not for others.

I lost another 1.2 lbs today. I'm down 9.4 in 10 days. I can't believe how well this is working! I have been eating cheese, eggs and spray butter, splenda, and a few other things on P3. I guess I will see if it keeps lasting....

Pink--congratulations on the 9.4 lbs...that's awsome! I have always used eggs and Pam spray in P2 with no problem, and this round I'm using a little coconut oil. I also use a few other veggies than what's listed, but they're all very low-carb. I know it's not strict protocol, but so far it's working. I'm just starting week 2 of VLCD in R2, and I lost about 5 lbs in the first week. Good luck!

bebo- i'd use the CO and drop the pam- that's straight oil.

pink- if you're just starting you'll lose as long as you're dropping the carbs. i just cut back on carbs when i started, and lost the same amount in 3 weeks as i did in my first hcg round. i'd drop the butter spray, though- all kinds of crap in that.

Interesting but I question if you are giving your hypothalumus the rest that is needed to stabilize later on? After all, isn't stabilization the ultimate goal?

Congrats on that weight loss!

I love eggs!! How many do you eat in a day? Is that counted as your protein for that meal?

Claire--I don't eat them every day, just when I need a change or something quick to fix. (I'm not much of a fish eater, and I get tired of chicken!) In the protocol, it says we can use one whole egg with 3 whites, but that's usually more than I want, so I use one whole with 2 whites. I usually eat them scrambled with just a quick spritz of Pam. I have some sort of veggie with them, so that is my meal. I never have used the Melba or breadsticks, and I generally save my fruit to eat later.

mgsondance--Thanks for the heads-up about Pam. I don't use it much...just a quick spritz now and then to scramble eggs or pan-fry fish. But since I seem to be able to use the CO with no problem, I'll try using that instead of the Pam.
