Hi Everyone,
thought I would pass around a website database that I have a lot of respect for when it comes to wanting truthful, well researched info about health and diet info in regards to hidden toxins and chemical additives in our food supply. I feel that becoming aware of whats actually in some of the ingredients we have become used to seeing (carageenan, anyone??) on the back of labels has a lot to do with bringing our health and weight into balance. I know, from my experience, that a healthy, nourished body free of irritating chemicals and synthetic toxins does not crave junky food.. but alternately, in the past, when Ive eaten things that have MSG or chemical artificial sweeteners, Im more prone to binges or loading on simple sugars. So this website really helps to sort out the good from the better-to-be-left-alone in our common food supply and also has some great resources about health... Just thought I'd share! Heres to health! (and maybe a cute pair of jeans or two! ![]() http://www.organicconsumers.org/arti...icle_17608.cfm |

Great group. I often get updates from them on FB.
My diet is almost 100% organic. I'm like you, I try to avoid all unnecessary toxins, additives, and pollutants. It makes a huge difference to my energy level and health. I've also learned that the longer I stay away from something that isn't good for me, like processed food, the less I want it. It's funny but after a certain period of time, I've found that I can't even eat something I used to love. It gets to the point where you can taste the crap and the chemicals and you just know there's no real food in whatever it is. Of course, it is a process and most people will not be able to make all desirable changes at once. That's just setting yourself up for failure. It's taken a long time for me to get to this point and I still have some things I could improve. For example, most days I only drink distilled water at room temp and coffee (half-caf and half-decaf). Well, guess who needs to cut out the coffee? LOL |

You're so right! It absolutely is a process... and ive found that the process of walking your diet towards one that is more natural, less processed, fresh, and organic is lined with the added benefits of actually feeling happier, more comfortable in my body, more peaceful and grounded. It is only from this place that Ive found ive been able to sustain an approach to food and eating that helps me want to make good choices for my body.
It just shows when you eat real, good food. It shows in your skin, your eyes, your energy levels... its a 'glow' cant be bought on with bronzing powder! And its totally true that you got to let something go for a few weeks/ months and then re-introduce it to get a sense about what it FEELS like to eat that food.. thats why I love this diet (hcg) because there were so many little things i was sneaking in before thinking they were harmless that i now realize how much they were affecting my moods and my cravings.. I realized one of the soymilks I was drinking had Carrageenan in it and that it is a GMO derivative and is linked to indigestion: http://www.notmilk.com/carageenan.html I posted the website for the organic consumers association because they are a really honest group, If you go online, you can find mis-information about all kinds of stuff, there are loads of websites proclaiming that aspartame is just fine for you etc... but its already been widely exposed to be a known carcinogen, one that affects the brain in particular, and pro-aspartame coverage is most likely just industry props-ups. its just important to know your getting info from a good source these days! Yay OAC! I also like http://www.naturalnews.com/ (natural news) and http://www.mercola.com/ (Dr. Mercola) for help when trying to find out the real truth about some of the toxins in the food supply. But thanks for sharing! I think with this diet, it gives people the strength to change because they realize their taste-buds and preferences change so quickly (over the course of 2 weeks my p2 lunches started to taste pretty great!) And that most likely, if you were consuming processed foods before, you were being 'duped' into thinking that food actually tasted good by all the chemicals (MSG etc.) These days, there are over 50 different names allowed to be used for msg because manufacturers know people avoid MSG, so look up some of its other names, its still in EVERYTHING! |

I agree that the other two sites you mentioned are also very good.
Yes, I think people would be surprised at how much better they feel by changing their diet. Not just increased energy but other things like clearer skin, fewer aches and pains. It's simple but we do not really get it at first: what you eat IS the most important variable in your health. Anyways, recently I discovered that I am much healthier with no grains. Then I learned that we've all been tricked into thinking that we need to eat grains every day when that's not even true! You absolutely do not need to eat grains and any nutritional benefit you can get from grains is available in other foods in greater amounts. I'm now thinking i might have an issue with eggs but that's not really relevant to anybody else cuz eggs are quite healthy for you unless you're allergic. Great post, Elusha. |

Thank you, york! If you look at my thread on the newcomer page, I've pretty much summarized everything about what I'm doing there.
If you have any questions after checking it out, just ask over there. The thread is two pages now... all me blabbing. One thing I don't think I mentioned there is that the people who manufacture my drops are available to answer questions by phone and by msg. I've had three questions answered in a short time by them. I think my experience is typical based on the women I've talked to here where I live. It seems like everybody in town is on the drops now and they can't keep them on the shelf at my market! |
