brizi77, I did 37 days of phase 2. What I mean is it showed up on day 15 and STAYED for 3 weeks....

VUzgOhgv 12-25-2010 01:33 AM

Hey, could you folks check out the pics of this rash I have and see if it looks familiar

Freaky skin condition, need some help!

IntinyBut 12-25-2010 03:02 AM

Yes! Mine looks like that but wayyy worse - in more places and more intensified esp because I've been scratching at it!

Thanks I'm assuming when you say Benadryl you mean to take an allergy pill of some sort? Just tried that today we'll see if that helps at all.

What's weird/worrisome...is today later in the afternoon, I got one of those spots right next to my eye on my face!!! That really got me worried so when I saw that I took the pill right away. Doesn't seem so pronounced right now. I wonder if I'm having a reaction to the strawberries I'm eating? I had them at lunch time and like 2 hours later that's when I noticed my eye...?

IntinyBut 12-25-2010 03:03 AM

Oh PS mas..just read your post and you said yours aren't itchy...? Well mine are super super itchy and burny!

VUzgOhgv 12-25-2010 04:19 AM

brizi77 - you say your's look exactly like mine....blotchy and some swollen patches?

IntinyBut 12-26-2010 03:28 PM

Yes, mine starts off looking like yours: blotchy, swollen patches....but because it's so itchy and I scratch it...it also gets darker red spots, raised fluid spots, crusty spots...quite gross actually.

VUzgOhgv 12-26-2010 03:38 PM

Hmmmmmm, In another thread, I was told these are definitely hives. Are you taking any meds? I took a percodan twice this week and got the rash about 24 hours after taking them. I read where narcotics can cause a breakout like that.

TravelMan 12-26-2010 03:40 PM

Maybe it's this? http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/...nettlerash.htm

The author states common foods that bring on nettle rash include strawberries and seafood -- both on the VLCD protocol.

Maybe try not eating those things for a week and see if the rash clears up. If it does go away, reintroduce one of the foods and measure the response. If no response, then reintroduce the other food.

VUzgOhgv 12-26-2010 03:47 PM

Yes, the nettlerash is just another name of hives. Same stuff I am referring to. I've never had the breakout before HCG and I eat a lot of seafood. I really think in my case, it is the Percodan that is causing the rash.

IntinyBut 12-26-2010 04:54 PM

Nope not taking any meds....

I'm going to eliminate strawberries and tomatoes for a few days and see if that helps any. The other thing I've been eating daily because I don't eat much meat are eggs (egg + 3 egg whites). So if the strawberries/tomatoes thing doesn't work...I'll eliminate the eggs next. Then if THAT doesn't work...well...who the heck knows!

I just find it weird, though, that pre-hcg I always ate eggs, strawberries, tomatoes, etc with no rash side effects. It's only when I go to VLCD on this (and a clinic one years ago) does this rash ever come up. This time it's worse than ever!

StampNews 12-26-2010 10:14 PM

What does the rash look like for all of you? I'm not taking HCG right now but when I was I got this horrible rash at the nape and it looked like little spider bites (little red spots). It was incredibly itchy and I thought something was seriously wrong with me, but I never made the connection that it could be from the HCG. Is it possible this was related? It drove me insane because it was so itchy, but it disappeared on its own... Around the same time the lymph nodes in my neck swelled up which freaked me out even more!

IntinyBut 06-18-2011 03:52 PM

Hey I am still convinced my rash is due to being in ketosis. I've been off and on this diet over the past many months now and tried different food combos (to eliminate possible allergy causes), anti-fungal stuff, etc and NOTHING helped. I would be fine the first few days to a week and them BAM my rash would hit as soon as I got into Ketosis.

So try googling "rash ketosis" and check out all the stuff people are writing. I like this thread so far: http://www.steadyhealth.com/Ketosis_...g_t113158.html where they mention spirulina and hydrogen peroxide. FYI so far the only thing that soothes the itching for me a for a few hours has been tea tree oil (suggested by someone else here). But I'd like to try the spirulina.

Good luck everyone!

IntinyBut 06-18-2011 03:57 PM

Oh and looked up "uticaria" that the poster in the link above wrote about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urticaria and yes my rash looks like the middle picture "chest wall". So perhaps these are hives type of thing. On Wiki it does mention "physical agents" for the hives and I'm thinking when in ketosis your body is reacting in some way that could be a new form of physical agent that should be added to the list, hmm.

Interesting, someone posted this on page 2 of that link:

I am doing Atkins and losing weight and experiencing the rash in torso area. My theory is that as the fat is burned, the toxins that were stored in it are now released and so they are processed out through the skin. Remember, the body uses fat to store toxins to keep away from vital organs, etc. Removing the fat without first removing the toxins seems the logical cause to me. It makes sense that spirulina would help the situation, because spirulina is excellent at detoxifying the body. So using spirulina to help the body remove toxins being moved into the bloodstream due to fat loss makes a lot of sense.

Hi brizi long time no post http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png . This post you found was my somewhat conclusion to a horrible rash I got. It took a long time to get rid of and I was in P3 when it happened. I was following the atkins type diet cause I didn't want to do any steak days. I seem to stabilize 3-7 lbs higher than my LDW. So, who knows about these rashes, it very well could be that we are more sensitive to stuff now that we easily fought off before due to so much overlays of toxins already in our blood, muscle tissues and fat, that it built a sorta armour and now that we are clean we fall prey to the slightest thing that doesn't agree with our newly cleaned bodies. Does that make sense? Well, I know what I'm trying to say anyways LOL. I have sensitive skin and even the sun will make me sorta break out on my arms sometimes. Hope you find your answer, I would be interested to see what you come up with.

IntinyBut 06-19-2011 03:21 PM

Thanks for welcoming me back, psaq http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png I've sorta been around lurking but have been on and off hcg (well mostly off) so things were difficult. I'm back on track now (I hope!) so back engaged in the forum again but maybe not quite as much or as obsessive, lol.

Yep totally makes sense...I guess some of us are just more sensitive to the process as others. I'll let you know how I do if I do try something different. http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png

I have this off and on too and the ONLY way I can get it to stop itching is by icing it. No creams, no nothing helps but the ice.

I'm not sure where it comes from or if I'm carrying a virus or something, but it REALLY is annoying!

Sandra_18X 06-25-2011 06:51 PM

I've had a itchy rash on my right side for about a week or so. I've experienced something similar and would take milk thistle and it would go away. But this recent issue seems to be an even more so. There is a roughness to the rash which I haven't had before. Well, I just put some coconut oil on it... (great stuff) so I hope it doesn't affect my losses. Oh, and I started the milk thistle just yesterday. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

Hi everyone.. I am on P2 VLCD day 5 and I have little red bumps since VLCD day 2. They started on my stomach mostly and some are now on my chest and a couple on each forearm. They dont itch for me. I do not normally have sensitive skin. I dont even think about them until I take off my shirt and look at them in the mirror!

They have gotten a bit darker red, no larger, and like I said they came up in a couple different area on my body.

Doesn't bug me much. I am losing weight, so unless I start getting sick or dizzy I am cool with it!
