Best Time to Exercise

I'm just curious, when do you think is the best time to exercise? Morning, Afternoon or Night? Before or After meals? Are there certain advantages if you exercise in the morning, afternoon or at night?

What time do you exercise? Me, I exercise around 6:00am, before breakfast.

It's morning for me too.. I exercise outdoors so if I do it in the afternoon, it will be too hot.. I don't exercise at night either..

I think morning is best isn't it? Exercise at night keeps me awake.. I only tried it once when I was really stressed and I couldn't sleep so I exercised instead..

That's what my sister said before.. if you exercise at might, your muscles will all be active so sleeping might be difficult.. That's why I exercise at least 30 minutes after I wake up.. I haven't tried exercising after meals though.. I'd be full then and I might throw up..

It is typical that many people do work out in the mornings or afternoon. The gyms are full of people that are working out at 9 or 10 at night. If you do find that evenings work better for you, make sure that you are not needing to go to bed right after. The previous comments are correct. After a workout your body is "Awake" and you may find sleep difficult. If you give yourself an hour or two to wind down, your body will have calmed down.

The best time to workout is at a convenient time for you during the day, at the same time. It is what works best for you.

I like doing my exercise routine mostly in the morning when I wakeup because it keeps me awake and energized. It's tiring sometimes but after my body has cooled down, I feel a lot better and is motivated to work. I find myself exercising in the evening these past few weeks because I tend to stay up and wake up later then usual. So I exercise an hours after dinner to burn all the calories I consumed for the day. It does keep me more awake and have difficulty sleeping after the exercise. If you give it an hour of rest though, it can help you sleep really good http://www.dietforums.com/images/smilies/biggrin.png

For me the best time to exercise is in the morning!
just like mikaela said it is the way to start the day. It'll keep you awake and energized your body for a whole day work.
For me, i dont have any commitments to do in the morning. i don't like exercising at night because when I go to bed, i want my body
to be more tired so I can sleep in an instant.
Better leave the exercise in the morning.

For me it's morning too....
Like you're out early in the morning and the sun is still not up and cold then you were having the activity trying to energize yourself.
It really feels good having your sweats released all over your body. What an excellent start on your day full of energy!

I go to the gym in the afternoon on my way home from work. I think you have to squeeze it in when it's convenient for you without being stressed. In the evenings, I go to my bedroom with my i-pod and dance around for about 20 minutes as well. They say any type of dancing is a good workout. What do you guys think?

I generally do exercise at 5a.m in the Morning and I think this is the best time to do exercise. However, evening isn't a bad time for exercise. But I don't even get time in the evening.

Everyone knows how important it is to fit some exercise into a busy working week. But now it appears that the time you choose for a strenuous workout is crucial in determining its effectiveness.

Scientists say that those who go to the gym - or for a jog - after work are likely to attain a higher level of fitness than those who exercise first thing in the morning.

I exercise 5 days a week for up to 2 hours daily in the afternoon. My job provides us .5 paid time to exercise so I come into work a hour early to get the extra time...I read somewhere that the worst time to exercise is first thing in the morning, someone stated that they don't hit the workout until 30 minutes after eating breakfast, I think if one has to exercise in the morning that would be the best way to do so because you are naturally in ketosis first thing in the morning and if you have not given your body anything to use for energy, it is most likey you are burning lean muscle.

I think it depends of the person, the important is to have the envis
