Default Acceptable Koolaid Flavors for P2/P3
I just wanted to update any who are interested in using Koolaid especially during P2 but also P3. The following flavors are the only one's that do not appear to contain any non-protocol substance. I was using Pink Lemonade and decided to double-check it tonight and dang-it it has maltodextrin in it so it's a no-no.
You should be able to use the following safely with your sweetener of choice, I use Truvia:
Black Cherry
Cherry
Strawberry
Lemon-Lime

Sorry if any one bought Pink Lemonade already, save it for P4! At least these packets are cheap!

Yes that one is allowed. I buy mine at Walmart for 20 cents a package and sometimes they have a 5-pack box for like 88 cents.

May I ask, how do you sweeten it? I got stevia but they come in little tiny packages. I have to use 24 for one gallon of water.

I use Truvia and use 18 to 24 packets to 2 quarts of Koolaid just depending on how sweet I need it to taste that day. 18 packets is good 24 is really good!

Thank you, I get the 3 qt Arrowhead Jugs. I just though too much stevia is not good for you.

I am not sure about not being good for you but I personally do not like just stevia. I know it is not suppose to take as much stevia to sweeten something as it would Truvia but the real stevia is way to bitter for my tastes and then leaves a horrible aftertaste to me. I have not had that problem with Truvia.

Just wanted to update all on the sweetener. I use Truvia and was doing 18 to 24 packets but decided to cut it back a little so I could get 5 days out of the box of 80 packets. I now use 16 packets per 2 quarts and it still tastes good just a little bit of a bite to me but nothing I can't handle so that is a bit of a cost savings overall too.

Diana, your koolaid trick has gotten me through this thing! I don't think I could do it without it.

I use half the 20 cent packet in a liter of water, 5 scoops of truvia and my "juice from one lemon" in it. I actually drink two liters of Koolaid a day. But it sure is cheaper than my Propel habit. I think it's something that I will take on my journey in life forever.

Ohh lemon in it, I hadn't thought of that! Yep drinking this is so easy and it definitely gets your water alottment in really easily for the day. I end up drinking all 2 quarts each day too and then regular water in the evening.

Isn't adding the kool aid and truvia then making it not water? Are you still drinking lots of water or subbing this? Do you loose the same?

Laura, that would be my thought too. I know on other diets, when you subsitute crystal light or something for your water, you're only able to count a percentage of it...like 10% or something.

Don't forget everyone, those koolaids and knockoffs are full of yucky artificial dyes and flavors. I'm thinking one of the reasons this diet works so well is because we are eating rather pure foods. Just my two cents, but I'd stay away. *shrug*

You gotta do what works best for you for certain.

Well it's working for me just fine. I am on start of VLCD 13 and have lost 13lbs so far with a small stall last weekend because I didn't drink my water - "koolaid" that weekend. I treat this as my water for the day but I still drink plain water with my meals too usually 2 glasses at those times with lemon. I don't think the 4 koolaid's listed are bad or bad for you personally but everyone's different.

Hum. I only asked because my chiropractor once told me adding even a drop on lemon to your water changes the entire chemical balance of water, making it not actually just water. I was just curious how it affected weight loss. I think I might make some as a special treat because I am a liquid junkie. I just made a homemade Latte (ya ya I used a bit to much milk) but I was craving one so bad!

I know through the years the doctors have battered back and forth on the water issue and I think Weight Watchers is the one now that says whatever you drink during the day you can count as your water intake, not positive it is WW as I have never done them but my co-worker has and I think I remember her saying something like that. Plus I have read other articles that say, other than soda, any liquid made with the base of plain water can be counted towards your daily intake. It is working for me so I will continue until something changes.

Laura, I'm averaging a 1lb a day on Koolaid. Everyone is different, but this works for me. And the diet is so dang bland, it's probably the major reason I have stayed on strict protcol on every other aspect of it.

PS- I bought some stretch denium leggings last week in an 8. I gotta take them back, they're too big! Yeah me!

Does everybody that makes this Kool-Aid use Truvia or do some use the liquid Stevia? I have liquid Stevia from last round (October), but like the true goofball that I am, I did not refrigerate as the bottle states...mainly because I just now found out it should have been kept refrigerated.
