Having a baby doesn't only change a woman's life but also her body. Some women have troubles accepting this change and can often times stop them from wanting a baby. The baby weight isn't easy to bear. This is the most common problem of most moms after giving birth. It takes awhile though before you gain your old body back so be patient. Every mom goes through that stage. Lot's of mother's lose their baby weight within 8-12 months. That's how long it normally take before your gain your pre-pregnancy figure. So what can you do to lose all the weight?
Breastfeeding It helps every woman to lose weight, however, you need to add 500 more calories to your diet to fuel your body of that extra energy demand, so aim for 2300 calories every day. Remember that what you eat affect the nutrition of your baby because you are breastfeeding. This isn't the time to be cutting down on your calories yet as it reduces your milk supply. Take note that you cannot lose more than 2 pounds a week as this will cause the body to release toxins and end up in your milk. Exercise Ask for your doctor's clearance before doing so to make sure your body is ready for this. If you didn't gain more than the recommended weight of 22 - 30 pounds, you should be able to gain your pre-pregnancy shape back within 8 months. This also means that you can lose a pound every week without compromising the quality and quantity of milk you produce. You cannot follow any diet program for now so make it personal. Listen to your body and be realistic with your exercise routine. Start with 10 minutes of stretching routines and then slowly increase it every week. Diet Avoid eating junk foods as this winds up in your milk which you will pass on to your baby. Eat healthy and make sure to aim for 1800 calories per day. Make your calories count and eat the right foods. If 1800 calories is too much for you, never rely on junk foods to increase your intake. Drink milk shakes or fruits juices in between meals. Never skip meals no matter how busy you are with the baby. Remember that you need to nourish your body not only for the baby but for you as well. |

This is a great article Mikaela, thanks for sharing this with us. Like I always advise our dieters here, always be realistic with your goal. You cannot be too hard on yourself after having a baby when it comes to exercising and losing weight so take it easy. Just do what your body can do with your present condition. You can always make a diaper changing station downstairs too and get that body moving when the baby needs changing. Carrying your baby up and down the stairs is a good exercise. If you need to get some water, go downstairs even if you have it in your baby's room to burn those extra calories

My friend gave birth and she has this same problem. She was always skinny but she feels like giving birth destroyed her body. I think it's natural that women feel depressed especially if it's her first baby. She's not used to the body changes but I say they give their body time to recuperate before working hard to lose all that baby weight. Stretching is the best way or a slow walk everyday. Sit ups can be considered but only if the body is ready. Drinking a lot of water will also help.
