Default Why do you want to lose weight?
I would like to hear your personal reason. What made you decide that it's time for you to lose weight? What is your motivation?

My reasons are:

1. I want to be thin again (like I was 17 years ago).

2. I no longer like what I see in the mirror.

What about you?

To be honest, I didn't realize that I was that BIG until an old friend asked me, "What happened to you?" She didn't mean to be rude. I've always been skinny and I guess she was just surprised to see that I gained so much weight. After that, I started dieting and working out.

I wanted to be skinny because I want to wear nice clothes. My reason is not that impressive but that is what motivates me.

Me too. I use to buy new clothes all the time since the ones that I have no longer fits. I wanted to be more confident and I want people to look at me differently.

It doesn't matter what your reasons are as long as it motivates you to lose weight and reach your goal. How many pounds away from you from your goal?

Because when I was fat, I couldn't longer climb the stairs to the third floor....I couldn't walk or run for more than 10 minutes.. and because my feet used to hurt when I stand more than 5 minutes..

It's not too late sunndy.. You can do it.. not for your girlfriends but for yourself.. If they don't want to be friends with you because you're fat, then they are not your real friends..

I've decided to lose weight because I can't afford ro buy new clothes! lol just kidding, but I do want to lose weight for my health. Both of my parents are over weight and now diabetic and I don't want to go down the same path as them. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. I used to go for 45 minutes on an eliptical machine with no problem, jog at the track in spurts for about 4 miles and lift weights 5 times a week. I used to be able to run up and down the stairs and now I move slowly on the stairs and I don't trust my knees. I also have hip pain that has gotten worse over the last year. I'm only 29, and if I feel this bad now, I don't want to think how bad i will feel in a few years or ten years from now. I think a big part of my weight gain has to do with Celexa, which I started taking a while back, and ever since, the pounds have packed on. I've been reading up on this drug, and apparently, it's been known to cause weight gain. If I had known that then I never would have switched. I was down to about 165 about 2 1/2 years ago, and now I'm at a staggering 227 pounds. It sickens me to think about how healthy I was, and how I feel now. It's also hurting my relationship because I don't feel, dare I say "sexy", and that is really causing a strain. I have 3 children and a step son to look after and I want to be able to do things with them and not get out of breath. Also, I am on my feel ffor almost 8 hours a day at work and my feet hurt SOOO bad all the time. I bought a pair of Sketchers Shape-ups a few months back, which helped tremendously for a few months, but i think that they don't work as well know because they got broken in really quickly because of my weight. All I know is that now I am on the right track and will hopefully stay on it. I am going to see the nutritionist next wednesday and hopefully she will be able to give me some good tips that I can pass along to the rest of you!!

Me too.. When I was 52 pounds heavier.. it was really difficult to walk long distance.. My feet also hurt and I'm always out of breathe.. I sweat a lot too and I feel depressed just looking at myself in the mirror. when i shop for clothes, it's depressing that the ones I wanted didn't fit me so I go to the "extra large" section..

I think we've all felt and experience those things before we started dieting.. Now that I think about it, it feels good and I don't have to worry about fitting in small sized clothes. It's a great feeling that all my hardwork and sacrifices have paid off.

Same here. To those who are still on their journey to meet their weight goal, Goodluck. It's a tough road but it's all worth it.
