Hi everyone,i am new here. it is the first time that i use this diet and i have just learned a little knowledge about what to eat
i am a Chinese girl, and am now living at school, so i have to eat Chinese food at the school dinning room. Many people in this forum offered manu and recipes, but they usually turned unrealistic to me. What is more, i am tired of eating the same thing everyday. i started the induction phase yesterday. the following is what i eat yesterday morning: 2 fried eggs(only can find this low carb food in the restaurant) noon: 4 string of roast duck 1 pickled medium cucumber some cabbages about 2000ml water played badminton for about 45 min today in the morning i also ate 2 fried eggs, and 3 plum tomatoes added noon: 1 bulk steam chicken about 100-150g sauted celery 2 little bulk beef 2 hours after that 3 plum tomatoes is this ok? is there something i do wrong? what else can you recommand? Anyone that offer other choice will be appreciated. ps: i am 27 years old, 161cm and about 58kg and i want to lose 10kg |

With Chinese, you want to avoid the "thickening" agents like cornstarch and the sweet sauces. Most dishes you find in a steam table at a buffet for example, are already mixed up with such things. Probably like that at the cafeteria as well. But, if you are ordering at a restaurant, they might be able to accommodate you.
Almost any steamed or stir fried in oil veggies are fine, as well as any type of meat or fish without a thick or sweet sauce. Rice is not an Atkins food, but after you go on pre-maintenance, you may be able to tolerate brown rice. Your menu looked pretty good, but don't eat TOO many tomatoes, until you get to the extra veggie rung. You might want to widen your veggies if you can, to add broccoli, cauliflower, etc. What veggies are available and what do you like? Do you like cheese or creamed cheese? I see no dairy, but that may not be common in your diet. Good exercise, badminton! I have never faced your challenge, so others may have better advice. My best to you... Toni |

Toni, thank you so much for your advice. It is really helpful. You are always so kind to new ones like me. I have got your point and learned more info from the internet these days. I never tried cheese in my life before using this diet. Just being curious, i bought some cheddar from the supermarket. It tasted good to me.
There is still a question. Is it better not having supper than three meals a day? |

Here in the US every part of our country has different ways to describe different meals. I call the 3 meals per day, "Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner."
Some folks in the South call the evening meal, "Supper." I like to eat a light breakfast, a mid-day lunch, an afternoon little snack, and a light "supper" (OR) "dinner." So eating something at various times a day works better for me than 2 larger meals. I believe if you have several meals, it keeps your metabolism "working" and may aid in weight loss. Glad you liked cheese! It makes a good mid-day snack, or after dinner, if you get hungry before bed, a light snack. Hope you find some other foods you have not tried you might like! Toni |
